These were made for a bridal shower. There are 1/2 vanilla and 1/2 chocolate cupcakes. The little cake is vanilla with strawberries and pastry cream. All are iced in buttercream and have hefty amounts of edible glitter on top.

This was my class final for the first course I did. The pictures don't do it justice I find. All white wedding-ish type cake. Royal icing. Cornelli lace on the top and within the garlands on the sides. White roses on top with silver foil leaves.

This was the first real cake Sue and I tried to practice for wedding cakes. It should be in the disaster file. We must have put the dowels in wrong and the whole thing kept sinking and and finally cracked and the bottom tier just self destructed! Any advice on the dowel placement and height? You can see the crack on the far right and the ruffel came away on the left. YIKES! Glad it was only practice!!!!!! Help!!!!

My first wedding cake. Vanilla sponge cake with caramel filling. The cake is covered in buttercream. Rose petals are atificial. Was very nervous about doing this as it was the first time I've ever tried stacking a cake using dowels.

Looks pretty good huh? Well this was after working on it for countless hours and before moving it. I thought I would save some time and put it together at home. (I had done it before and everything went fine!!) Lesson learned! After all was said and done it turned out to be two layers shorter! Luckily the bride wasn't mad!! I was very fortunate for that.

I made this last summer. 5 tiers with flowers in between. I had to climb onto the table to get the top 2 tiers on! Very dramatic.

The bride selected this cake, from a picture of a previous wedding cake I did (square periwinkle blue), but we modified it some. It's hard to tell, but there are words of various fonts and sizes on the bottom and a Corinthians verse on the 3rd tier. All amaretto cake w/ buttercream.

Hard to tell from this picture, lighting was terrible - scrolls, dots and last name written on top. When I got there to deliver the cake, and asked about the flowers for it... they pointed to a bucket of roses and greenery, and said, "there you go!" Didn't plan on doing floral arrangement too!

White cake with buttercream icing. Thank you so much PGRAY315 for your wonderful border idea! Your's turned out so much better - I just haven't gotten the hang of that whole "ruffle" thing! Practice, practice, practice! I gave up on the rose tip and used my ruffle tip instead.

This was my first wedding cake. It's iced in BC of which I'm not use to so I had a real hard time smoothing it out. All in all though I was happy with the way it came out.

This is not really a shower cake, but wasn't sure where to put it...my first time making my own icing and using the impression mat. A bit of bulge in the middle(i made the icing dam, but i didn't let the cake settle before icing) but it was a good learning experience:) i made several diff borders just to try...lots of fun! suggestions welcome...1 month till my sis's wedding!!

This was my first wedding cake (other than from the Wilton class). I made it for my brother. It's made of fondant and real orchids. It was also my first time doing a floral arrangement (for the topper), so it was definitely a learning experience!

I suggested a dummy layer for the bottom to give this cake more height. Just a simple stacked tier, smooth buttercream with some piped stars, and a blue fondant ribbon. Chocolate cake with fresh strawberry filling.
The wedding party arrived at the restaurant very early, so I had 25 people watching me set this up! Bride and groom very happy with this simple cake. I loved the topper...it's a wooden figurine.

Cake Dummy with corneli lace and dots with artificial flowers. Not real happy that my "arches" aren't consistent, but this was the last of 4 cake dummies I did this weekend and my hand is ready to fall off! Oh well, overall I like the idea, I just need more practice. Thanks for looking!

This was my entry to the San Diego Confections on Parade contest. This 4 tiered cake was based on a Carolina Herrera dress that was featured on the cover of the Winter Martha Stewart's Weddings. I didn't place this year, but I learned a lot about my competitors, so I guess I'll have to develop my skills for next year.
