Just a welcome to the neighborhood....idea courtesy of susanmm23....thanks! It was supposed to be one of those grass welcome mats....I'm not sure if that came across, but I still think it's okay. Thanx for looking!

A welcome cake I did for an adoption party. The little girl is 4 years old and loves cats. I used two 8" rounds for the cat (cut up). Fun and easy for us beginner types.

M dad just got out of the hospital; this is his welcome home cake. Chocolate cake with cream cheese filling and chocolate peanut butter frosting (as requested by him). Boy was that frosting hard to work with!

Was asked to make this for a welcome home soldier. She just wanted it in red, white and blue, with welcome home daddy. Nothing fancy, so I added a heart in the middle. Cannot see the white well on the heart. She was happy with it.

This was a request for welcoming family to Indiana. They wanted something simple but elegant. I'm still not sure if I like what I did with this cake.

This is my 2 birds with one stone cake. I took a fondant class last night so I was already decorating a cake - and I had a new family start at my work - so, I turned it into their welcome cake. In my class I leared how to do swags, drapes and ribbon roses. I still need some more practice, but I guess it turned out OK. I just hope the family this is for will enjoy it.

NF sugar with royal icing. I made these for my new neighbor. It's the same as their house, yes, pink trim and all. She loved them so much, she made one into an ornament for their Christmas tree, I have no idea how she could do that.

This goes in to my not so favorite cakes!!! Not possible to decorate with White Chocolate Cream Cheese Icing!!! But was it ever tastey!!!!!! This was a raspberry white chocolate cake with white chocolate cream cheese icing. It was so rich that I was very sick after one small piece.

Made this cake for hubby to surprise him when he got back home from being away at Training. It was my first attempt at a checkerboard cake but didn't come out as well as I had hoped, maybe next time. Next time I will use a darker cake. The cake is Caramel Cake & Yellow Cake. Red & Black Buttercream frosting, Basket weave all around the sides of the cake.

We had a new neighborhood get together. (lots of desserts, therefore the reason for the small cake). The board is covered in royal icing. The chocolate cake (the flower pot) is covered in rolled buttercream, and the purple flowers are buttercream. The lettering is also rolled buttercream. I added cake balls to the "mat" also. BTW - I told the neighborhood sales rep that the flower pot fell over and the flowers fell out - she bought it! LOL!!!

These were for a customer that sells Southern Living @ Home. She is doing an open house tomorrow for all of her past hostesses, and this is a small thank you gift for them. Really tickled how they turned out! I love doing cookies!

A very special cake. My oldest brother and SIL can not have children, however, they were recently blessed by being picked by a birth mother to adopt. They have had Sophia Hope since October 2 and it has been absolutely wonderful. We had a welcome baby shower for them and I made the cake, my first 3 tiered and baby booties. Yellow cake with choc ganache & rasp mousse, choc cake w/cookies-n-cream, yellow cake w/cookies-n-cream, bc icing and MMF daisies and booties. Thanks for looking.

I made this cake back in 1990 (boy, how time flies!). It was for my nephew's (at the time my boyfriend's sister's son) homecoming from the hospital after his birth. It's one of my favorite recipes and the 2nd time I had made this three layer chocolate cake with whipped cream filling and a chocolate frosting. I believe it was my first or second attempt at roses.

This cake was made for a family who adopted 3 small children. The three on the far right are the additions to the family. They wanted to celebrate! It's butter recipe cake with rasberry filling. BC icing. I thought it turned out really cute.

I made this as a housewarming gift for new neighbors that moved in across the street. Thanks to the members on this site for inspiration for this one and for helping me to learn what I have done wrong. Too bad I havent been figuring it out BEFORE the cake is completed, but OH WELL!

I made this cake for my cousin's welcome home party. The lambs are too small but that is what my cousin wanted. I made one half choc./choc. mousse, and the other half white/strawberry mousse. The frosting was non dairy whip. I air brushed the green grass and for the water I used colored piping gel blue.
