This is a cake I made for my sister-in-law who LOVES Peter Rabbit. The figure is made out of gumpaste and painted with diluted paste color. The vegetables are marzipan and the "dirt" is crushed chocolate cookie. The cake was carrot with cream cheese icing

This was the first fondant figure I've ever made. I dusted him with luster dust for some color, except his eyes, which I just painted the tiniest pieces fondant with black coloring gel. Everthing else was made with buttercream, including the veggies (I'm sure you can tell). If I would have had more time, I would have given him a fondant fence, but I felt I was too new at it to really "go for it"... maybe I should have =) Thanks for looking!

This baby shower cake was designed for the mother-to-be because of a little farm and vegetable garden that is important to their family. The cake is iced smooth with buttercream. To achieve the look of hair on the donkey, I used a pastry brush to smooth the icing. The baby, blanket, corn, tomatoes and carrots are all made of candy clay.

This was for my father-in-law's birthday. It is a pot full of soup. The pot is a vanilla cake that was tinted orange and frosted in BC. The sausage, carrots, noodles, celery, and beans are made from fondant. The mushrooms are made from bananas (thanks to lakerubyjoy for the idea). The cake was a hit!!!!

My take on a fondant vegetable crate. The brides mom liked the look of my bushel of crabs cake and told me to "do whatever I had to do" to make the vegetable crates look like that. Luckily they weren't planning on eating them. Dried fondant slats woodgrained and "painted" with cocoa. Cupcakes had butter cookie carrots (groom) and peas (bride). This was for a party at a local winery after the religious ceremony at their house. I also made personalized crate labels for them.

This is for a Harvest/Halloween/Birthday/Thanksgiving/Housewarming party for my mother-in-law. They just built a house on a bunch of land and love to garden so I thought it would be perfect.

My father-in-law is an avid organic gardener and has involved all of his grandchildren in his hobby. This was my first attempt using marzipan for decorating a birthday carrot cake; it was time-consuming but fun. The "dirt" is crushed chocolate graham crackers; the pathways toffee bits. Veggies were all his favorites: Tomatos, spinach, eggplant, corn, green onions (hard to see), and carrots. Thanks to this group for the inspiration!

This is a homemade German choc garden cake with watermelon, summer squash, lettuce & pumpkin patch, cauliflower & sunflowers. I crumbled up chocolate cake to make the soil under the veggies. A total hit! They were even eating the marzipan! I made the marzipan watermelon red on the inside and put a layer of green and then stripes of lighter green on the outside. I sliced it and served it with the cake.

THis is my 3 year old son's birthday cake. He was very specific on what it should have on it! 11x18 sheet pan, barn is house pan, hay is cupcakes and silo is rice krispie treats. The corn is green birthday candles with corn kernals piped on. The dirt road has chocolate jimmies and black sugar crystals. The tractor was a toy. The rest is buttercream icing.

This photo is of the first time I made this carrot cake, for a friend's bridal shower. I've also made it for baby showers. It based on Martha Stewart's idea. The vegetables are colored marzipan, the dirt is crushed oreos and the fence is made of popsicle sticks.

These cakes were for a neighbor who was turning 88. He makes the BEST homemade soup (hence the pot of soup on the cake...) The bottom cake is chocolate cake with chocolate icing. The spoon and recipe card are MMF. On the top is yellow cake with buttercream frosting. The pot is also yellow cake, hollowed out and covered in MMF. The veggies and letters are MMF and the "broth" is orange piping gel.

For a 70-year-old avid gardener who likes to plant flowers and vegetable. Just for fun, I buried some gold coins (chocs in gold wrapper) in the cake. Nine sticks in the vegetable nursery and three butterflies. 9 and 3 are numbers that symbolizes longevity in Chinese ;-)

First cake made at home, by myself. Scratch carrot cake with cream cheese frosting. Made carrots out of homemade marzipan (dyed orange), and the stems and dots are piped on green cream cheese frosting. Pressed the sides with crushed walnuts and center is a single piece of walnut. Border is a simple shell (not very good with piping yet!)

Sorry about the low picture quality, I am trying to acquire a better camera. Let me know what you think, thanks!

The chef is going on top of a cake which will be decorated w/ veggies and greenery. He's not quite done, just needs a towel in one hand and turkey platter in the other! It is a surprise for a culinary student who will be home for thanksgiving.

BC, GP fence and sign, MMF vegetables. Made for "Kathy's" 50th birthday. Her daughter sent me a picture of what she had in mind, so I've copied this from someone, but thought it was so cute!
I used ground chocolate sandwich cookies for the "dirt".
