I made this at my son's request for his Valentine celebration at the YMCA after school program. It was a red velvet cake with buttercream and red Satin Ice fondant embossed using cutters. The candys were purchased. Some of the kids were afraid to eat "red cake".

Both vanilla/white cake with buttercream icing and filling. Gumpaste flower spray. Heart supported with a straw. I was testing a new recipe and new colors. The girls at work enjoyed it!

I made this cake for my office's February Birthday Celebration. There were a lot of SNAFUs, so the actual cake came from Safeway. I called and bought undecorated 9" rounds. I hated to have to do that, but desperate times call for desperate measures.

So it is yellow cake, buttercream icing and edible pearls. I hate using buttercream, but my office does not want fondant on cakes because they are afraid people won't like it.

This was a cake I made for a belated Valentine's Day celebration for a kid's playgroup. It was all chocolate with all buttercream. I used the sweetheart pan and part of half of a ball pan. I wanted the "valentine" to look like the little kid made it so the writing is messy. The customer loved it!

This is not a very good picture, I know, but I found these cute melamine plates at Target. They had different colored hearts on the plate, so I used fondant to cut out different colored hearts to match it! The cake is chocolate fudge covered in MMF. I used the smallest heart pan from the mini-heart tier set.

This was a dark chocolate cake. Unfortunately, I have no idea what kind of filling I used. But it was pretty dang tasty! I covered it with fondant, which was a nightmare, then put buttercream roses that were supposed to look like the sterling roses that my co-worker's husband gets her every year. I sprinkled them with some of that sparkly silver stuff, but I don't think it showed up well in the picture. Please feel free to email me with WHO WANTS CAKE in the subject line. Thanks.

The 3rd time I'd tried fondant. Used cookie cutters for the hearts and "Love" message.

Similar to the one in the Wilton yearbook. My first time making rosettes. I also don't know how to make buttercream roses yet, so I molded some out of colored white chocolate and put them around the edge of the cake (but forgot to line them up with the decorations on top!). Hearts on top are also colored white chocolate - molded them in a shaped muffin pan. People wouldn't eat them at first because they thought they were plastic! :)

This is a picture of my first attempt at the buttercream fondant. It really tasted great, but found that it was a tiny bit on the "greasy" side. It also made it difficult to shape the ribbons and all, but I am sure with a little adjusting the recipe it will be good. The shape was made by using a square pan and a round pan. Cutting the round in half and sitting each half upon the sides of the square pan.
