These were made for a little guy to take to class, and since there were so many of them, I wanted to try to do something simple so I came up with the idea to use a Hershey's kiss, although my royal icing wasn't as stiff as it should've been.

The customer ordered a cake for a turkey hunter. I knew nothing about turkey hunting so I had to do some research. I found that hunters will mount their turkey feathers and beards. The sheet cake is covered with BC and airbrushed in a sort of camo. I have a lot to learn about airbrushing. The feathers, beard and turkey call are all MMF with handpainted details.

Ok I thought I would try and make the Roasted Turkey Cake. Once a month I make the cakes for our office for birthdays. This month of course was a Thanksgiving theme. I think I did an ok job for my first try : ). The veggies are made of fondant.

This Turkey is "drunk" with fear, he doesn't want to be the Thanksgiving Feast. Fondant was used on the cake board and for the pumpkins, iced in buttercream.

First attempt at marshmallow flow. Turkey image cupcake cake for Daughter's kindergarten class. Marshmallow flow colors ran into one another. Also, hardened enough to make separation of cupcakes difficult and messy. Wouldn't use that again on cupcakes!! A regular cake, maybe! :)

Ever since I saw the picture of the turkey that another member of this board did, I've been wanting to give this a try! This was fun to do and fooled a lot of people!

This cake is inspired by the cake done by boysmomintx. Thank you so much for yours I waited all year to be able to do this. It is lemon cake with buttercream and fondant. I was afraid the feathers would fall if I put them up so decided to just lay them down. it got rave reviews at the school party.

I learned how to make these cuties during a class a few years back. They are made of store bought cookies (although I have thought about trying to make my own) and royal icing/frosting. These were made with oatmeal bases, sugar tail feathers & fudge marshmallow bodies :)

I made this for Thanksgiving. Inspired by the Wilton project called "Gobble It Up" on their website. It is a strawberry pound cake with buttercream icing. The pan used was the 3D Rubber Ducky. The feathers are chocolate candy melts. The shapes came from a leaf mold.

I tried the turkey cake with limited success, o well, will be better next year!!! (will at least have the right pans for it).
The body of the cake is scratch yellow cake and the legs are pecan mix i made the butter cream with coffee instead of water. Real kale and fondant cherry tomatoes and carrots. The dern thing started to break on me. (sheesh) o well, Many lessons learned on this one!!!

This cake was being used to teach an employee how to pipe some autumn leaves. Somebody called my name as I was piping the first leaf and I turned my whole body to respond. Needless to say, the leaf looked more like a feather, so...

This was my first disaster cake. The Wilton website said make 20 leaf feathers, so I did. After placing all of them in, I walked away and the heavy fondant feathers fell down and took the whole butt with it! I was able to salvage it with A LOT of icing and dowels to connect the front body and the behind. Then I used only 5 of the suggested 20. Maybe my leaves were too big. Who knows.

I was very new to cake decorating when I made this - I was eager to try every technique! This cake has MMF, a frozen BC transfer, and chocolate leaves (I made the leaves by coating real leaves with melted chocolate, and peeling them off when set). It tasted good too!
