This was made with butter cream and gumpaste. I have had to teach myself how to work with gum paste, so I use polymer clay to practice with and then i do it in the actual gumpaste. Any questions please ask.

This was my first attempt at a handbag cake and my second occasion cake. It was a white cake with custard filling covered with fondant and all the decorations are also out of fondant. Any critiques or advice to improve would be greatly appreciated!

An friend of mine got remarried after her husband died last year. They just wanted something simple because there was just going to be about 20 people at a reception her daughter was giving. I thought the fruit added a nice touch of color. I enjoyed decorating this cake. The fruit has some sugar on it to make it glisten.

My very first wedding cake (that wasn't for cake class course three that is!) My Dad remarried on August 4 (Mom passed away in 2000). He asked me and my sister to make his wedding cake. We both baked the cake and frosted it. I made all the flowers and decorated it. Does this cake look familiar? Look in Wilton course two class book page 27! I just changed the white flowers to bright pastels!

My daughter of four has taken such an interst in my cakes and always wants to help so she sat down yesterday with some fondant colored it and made these rose buds all by herself. SHe announced she was done and this is what she came up with. I am quite proud of her and she would love to hear your comments. She is doing a cake this week to put them on so I hope to post that soon.

This was for a guy who loves building clocks and collects watches. It was for a very small group, so I made the watch band by layering pieces of a 1/4 sheet cake. I made a 1" deep 6" round cake for the watch face. Put that on a board and set it on the 'band'. All BC, chocolate cake w/strawberry filling.

31st wedding anniversary, first time playing w/luster dust and MMF. 31st anniversary is typically marked (modern) by time pieces and well watches/clocks it works out, hence the gears. The time on the clock is the date.

For my brother-in-laws b-day. He likes to wood turn. Peanut butter candy mold shavings are supposed to look like wood shavings. Cake topper and middle top are actual pieces that he turned.

This was a good job gone bad. It's cute, yes I know... but I thought that the chocolate fudge frosting under the violet would turn it greyer... it didn't. It was a pound cake recipe that a friend swore by, and since i was on a time crunch, I used it. ICK. The lady that got it had mixed emotions. Loved the look, hated the color. Hubby said "Does it roar too? It's awesome!" Never ever heard from them again. =((

I had to do a retirement cake for someone retiring from a custodial job and they wanted quite a bit of writing on it so I used the frame and cut out a piece of fondant and wrote on it with the Wilton edible food markers. Next time I'll let it get a little harder first it wanted to grab the pen. Also , my writing is going up hill gotta practice on that.

This was for a 2 year old who loved dinosaurs, especially Little Foot from the Land Before Time. He is supposed to be in a egg, though I'm not so sure it really looks like that:) Thanks for looking!

Buttercream icing, then airbrushed the ones that are 2-toned... A Peeps is on top of the blue one. The pink one I used a small star-tip and pushed back and forth as I piped in a spiral. The white one is basketweave with Jelly Bellies on top.

These are cupcakes that I threw together for my husband's office. They are supposed to be bird's nests. I tried using a grass-tip at first and didn't like the way that looked. So, then I used a star tip and built up a nest in a spiral formation. I used Peeps for the birds and Jelly Bellies for the eggs. I also used giant malted-milk ball eggs. For the Easter grass it is edible grass that you can buy from and it comes in yellow, green, and pink. It doesn't taste good, but it's cool

The product of the first cake decorating class I took. This was actually the first cake I ever baked and decorated. It took me quite a while to finish since the star tip used is pretty small. This was decorated with buttercream icing.

I made this for my Workaholic Dad who finally retired in 2001, and he
still works! One of my very first cakes I did the Red Retired in color-
flow. This was when I still used the Wilton Icing Recipe. YUK!

A woman called and asked for this pretty specifically, then I found lots of siliar pics on here so it might have originated from a Wilton book or something - who knows! Buttercream sheet cake with fondant accents and the bathtub is pound cake.
