Did this one for my friend's tiki-themed birthday party - inspired by sarahscakes Totem picture. 2-11x15 layers (wow, this was seriously a lot more cake than I anticipated!) of spice cake carved and frosted with cream cheese icing, then covered with fondant plus buttercream accents. This was my first time painting on fondant, I just brushed over my "wood grain" and wiped it off again to make a "stained" look. I'm pretty pleased with how that worked!

The cake is chocolate w/buttercream (w/almond twist) icing. The banner is fondant decorated with edible markers. The shells are marbled chocolate. The dolphin is not edible. I found it at Michaels and thought it would be cute jumping out of the "ocean" of icing. The candles represent tiki torches and are rainbow just like the rainbows you see in Hawaii.

This cake was ordered by a woman who wanted to surprise her hubby. She wanted to celebrate their anniversary by reliving their honeymoon. She wanted a beach themed cake for the occasion. The dog is a puppy that he is supposed to be giving her as an anniversary gift. If not she has an easy one to take care of now! Chocolate cake with buttercream. Fondant figures and gumpaste chairs.

I had one cake order of a monkey cake and thought I wouldn't be doing one of those again soon. Then one week later I have another order for a monkey cake. Monkey's must be popular. I have attached the partyware she ordered and hopefully my cake complimented that. Yikes. Per customers request 1/2 carrot 1/2 chocolate , cream cheese icing, mmf accents.

This cake was made for a guy's 50th Birthday Bash. Obviously, it was a Hawaiian Themed Party! I got the idea from a Debbie Brown book and just embellished it a bit.

My version of a tiki hut cake :) Bottom tier was 14" round (3"inches thick) done in chocolate kahlua ... next tier was pina colada flavor; 12" round (3 inches thick)... tiki hut was white almond flavor (no liquor) .. seashells were made out of fondant and painted with non-toxic chalks and dusted with luster dust ... I used some graham cracker crumbs for sand below the shells... all tiers had 2 layers of buttercream icing then MMF over the buttercream. I had so much fun with this one!

I had so many problems with this cake. The worst moment waswhen my girl fell apart as I was assembling it for delivery! Hence the reason she is sitting on the bar and not standing by it. I had to hastily make new legs!

I made this for my husbands cub scout group for the blue and gold dinner. It was a hawiian theme. Thanks to Shelbur10 who let me borrow her tiki hut idea. Although mine does not look as good as her's. The poor palm tree kept loosing leaves. I hope it stays together long enough for the kids to dig in!

I made this for my son's silent cake auction at his Cub Scout Blue and Gold Banquet. All the decor is MMFondant. I painted black food coloring over brown fondant and then wiped it off to create the weathered wood look.

This was going to be a topsy turvy with a Cirque du Soleil theme for Teacher Appreciation Day. The homeroom mom changed her mind at the last minute and decided to go with Survivor. So I stacked all the layers and trimmed to fit to make a tiki. Alternating 7" orange creamsicle and chocolate cakes with alternating choc. mousse and buttercream. 2 dowels are holding it all up. The grass coming out the top is fondant, the rest is BC with the small flowers RI. I thought it looked hilarious, but everyone loved it

I got so much inspiration from this site for this cake. The flowers were made using nanettedelong's ideas, grass skirt idea from subaru's cake, and other ideas from cakesunleashed's cakes--all with my own personal twist to it.. Thanks guys!

I made this cake for my friend's wedding reception on May 19, 2007. They celebrated their vow's and honeymoon in Fiji. This cake was inspired by Ginger08. I wish it was as good as hers!! My main issues were the roof, I made mine out of rafia and the palm leaves were made out of gumpaste, but they kept breaking off..had to glue some back on at the and learn from our mistakes...Thank you for looking!! :)

I came up with this idead for a Tiki Survivor Party. The icing is butter cream, I used crushed graham crackers for the sand and the palm tree pick came from Oriental Trading. The Tiki Idol is a tootsie roll decorated with buttercream icing.

This is a slightly different design of a cake I've already done. The customer wanted a grass skirt look on the bottom tier. I don't know that it looks like a grass skirt, but it definitely looks like a grass roof! Also, I had added flowers to the top of the cake just because it looked like it needed it! I just forgot to get more pictures!

The tree leaves are fondant, the wooden door and window shutters are made out of broken pieces of wooden skewers that were hot glued together. The hula girl and the tiki man are small car dashboard dancers that wiggled. The hut is a 6" round cake topped w/half of a ball cake.

Inspired by albumangels tiki-hibiscus cake (which is just beautiful, by the way!) for a survivor-themed graduation party. Choc. cake with mocha buttercream, topped with whipped chocolate ganache. Cakes are lined with Pepperidge farm pirouette cookies. all accents are 50/50 gumpaste/fondant. Albumangel -- I only wish my hibiscus flowers looked a fraction as good as yours!!! Thanks for the inspiration.

For a friend who loved my other tiki cake, but wanted LOTS of chocolate and topsy-turvy. I fell in love with modeling chocolate! Used it for the tiki gods. Then used candy melts to pipe the face details. Pirouette cookies around the base, lots of chocolate buttercream and whipped ganache. Gumpaste hibiscus on top. A little gold luster dust on the tikis & plaque.

Cake is a combination of several ideas from cakes on CC. 10" and 8" red velvet iced in buttercream. Tiki hut is two cupcakes stacked, iced in royal and covered with pretzel sticks. Pretzel rod palm trees with fondant leaves. Torches are candles wrapped in fondant (didn't really like the way these turned out). Fondant tiki mask, shark fin, snake and coconuts. Pirouette cookies around island. Graham cracker crumbs for sand and Oreo crumbs for path. A lot of work but fun and very rewarding!
