This was a two person cake; I helped my friend make this cake for her daughter's 7th birthday. The party was Bratz themed, but we stayed away from putting Bratz on teh cake, we just used the color scheme from teh plates and napkins etc. Then to tie it into the dolls we had purses and lips on the cake.

3 inch base, 2 inch center, 1 inch top
I tried to ice these in buttercream and failed miserably and then moved to fondant. Even the fondant was fiddly and it wrinkled and well it was
not good at all. The cake was a mess, i just took the picture from the best angle that i could find to hide all the horrible bits.
The piping is done in buttercream, the roses are royal icing, the base is fondant.

Buttercream with fondant parts. Just a fun cake to practice with. I took it to my mom's work and got about 5 Cake orders. Sometimes free is worth it. I carved the bottom cake before frosting it.

My friend asked me to do her bridal shower cake and since I had never made, I thought I'd make a practice cake. I ended taking it to work and made a lot of coworkers very happy :o) I also saved a couple slices to bring back home for my hubby. The bottom cake is a white vanilla cake. The top cake is a caramel cake. I filled both cakes with whipped vanilla pudding, very nice and light. I used Wilton's BC frosting for the icing and the decorations. This was the first time I painted the inside of my piping bag.

This is 3, 1/4 sheet cakes put next to each other and placed on plywood. The 2006 cake is an 8" round. First time working with pillar construction and stairs. You cannot see it in the photo, but the stairs seemed to be leaning. All buttercream, almond flavor, yellow cake with raspberry filling.

This is one tier of a wedding cake. I didnt' get a picture of it all set up because the bride took it to the site which was 45 minutes away, but they stacked this on glass blocks and put lights under it. There was a 6 in round and a 12 in round and this was an 8 in square

Brides colors were Chocolate Brown and Soft Pink, which is the color of the scroll work on the ivory cakes. Flowers that were to be on the cake were no where to be found, so we made do with some table decorations and the throw bouquet (which we saved some and made a new one for her).

The third one I've done in this style. (It's perfect for getting rid of all those leftover flowers and tinted fondant scraps!!)

I made this cake to match the plate. Fondant covered. I was too lazy to knead in the color to the fondant so the colored pieces are airbrushed.

tried a random width striping effect for my brother's b-day cake. Should measure more carefully next time, not bad colors though.

Made these (and three others) for my children's teachers and school staff for the last day. Was tempted to make gumpaste letters that just said "DONE" and add to the cake! LOL Very easy to mass produce as all the cakes were dark chocolate fudge with ganache filling. Baked, torted, and frosted at the same time and then decorated assembly line. Funny though, they all turned out a bit different! (and my cuticles are still dyed hot pink!)

This was my second wedding cake. It is cream cheese pound cake with buttercream filling and fondant. The striped border was hand piped at the bride's request. The small pink cake is a fruit cake I made 6 months ago. The flowers on the white cake are fresh, the flowers on the small cake are sugarpaste. The butterflies are edible.

Made this for my SIL's shower. 2nd time attempting fondant, first time stacking fondant, 2nd fondant figures. I learned a lot from all of my mistakes. I may be more happy with it in the morning :) Two pea pods on either side at the bottom. I made two little girls with baby blocks spelling out the last name. I hope she likes it!!

I did this for my brothers friend's nephew. He is two today and wanted an elmo cake. I decided to go with the figurines because he wanted a toy on his cake. This is the 1st time I have used figurines on a cake. I really liked the way the colors went perfectly with them. I had so much fun making this cake and it turned out a LOT better than I had hoped. Thanks for looking and comments are always appreciated!! :)

I made this for my grandmother's birthday. This was originally the back of the cake, but DS's fingers made it the front. The bottom is 8" and the top is 6". I did spatula striped victorian roses on top and sweet peas around the bottom and cornelli lace down the sides.

This cake was inspired by a picture in a magazine. The striping in some of the rose petals is my favorite aspect of this cake.

Chocolate bottom layer and vanilla top layer. Cut 3 shades of fondant strips and rolled them together to get tri-color panels. Scroll, cap, and curls are fondant. Should have used gum paste. Fondant dried for a week and stil the heat and humidity kept it soft. Curls kept breaking off. My daughter thought they were just up side down curls. Live and learn.
