The cake is a version of the chocolate cake on p.41 of the 2003 Wilton yearbook. Same pans used. My sister is not a frilly kind of person, so she didn't want any flowers or even a cake topper. All buttercreme, white cake w/french vanilla pudding/filling.

This lady was getting remarried and wanted things a little different this time around with her cake. I really enjoyed making this cake.

The bride wanted a "dotted swiss" pattern and wanted the cake to be all buttercream icing. White roses and calla lillies were the floral arrangements placed on the cake. The flavors in the cake were chocolate, white, carrot and strawberry. This cake was just set up today (the camera date should say 2005!)

This is a simple cake. I was trying out cornelli lace and stacked construction again. It is a dr'd white cake with regular BC icing and filling.

This was my first attempt at a present cake. It was for a bridal shower. The smaller square was chocolate cake and the larger was vanilla. It is iced and decorated in buttercream. The orchids are silk and mirror the ones to be used in the bride's bouquet. The silver beads above the border were purchased from Michael's--they gave me lots of trouble!Although I was happy with the way it turned out, I had a tough time trying to figure out how to do the ribbon. Any good tips on this would be greatly appreciated!

I made this for a baby shower tomorrow. The invitations had a giraffe pull toy on them. The mom-to-be didn't want anything real cutesy, so this was what I could come up with. I definitely need to practice doing cookies!!

A cake like this takes some effort to transport in one piece, so I divided it into two pieces. The bottom two tiers were carried separately with the dowels in place. The top two were placed at the hall and the bottom border added. I'm a man and it is so much easier to do it this way.

I made this cake for all of the people helping my parents move into their new house. Top cake is double choc chunk with rasberry filling. Bottom cake is also double choc chunk but with vanilla filling. Both cakes are covered with BC icing and this is my first attempt at MMF roses.

This was my first wedding cake. I'm an amateur decorator and had never taken a class or had any instruction--I just learned from books and the internet. I've done two wedding cakes since, but this one's still my favorite.
Covered in fondant with royal icing detail and gum paste flowers.

This was my final cake for the Wilton Course III. It was my first attempt at a stacked cake. It turned out nice although I do see lots of things to work on.

This is definitely not one of my favorite cakes and I debated to even load the pic (that's how bad I didn't like this cake, lol) This was the brides choice of cake .. it was made exactly to her specifications .. icing was buttercream.. I used the super enhanced cake mix recipe from here .. flowers are fresh and again, the brides choice of flowers.. her colors were lavendar and silver.

Here is another shot of the cake, a more closeup view (unfortunately, it shows one of the few places where my cornelli lace wasn't *quite* perfect!). Had fun with this cake!

This was the MOST fun to make ... it was the durable cake recipe for all 3 layers. Bottom was choco fudge, middle was white choc w/raspberry filling, top was lemon. All done in buttercream (1/2 butter 1/2 Crisco) with MMF. Roses on top were mmf/gumpaste mixture. It didn't turn out *exactly* like I had hoped ... but overall I am pleased! Forgot the right tip for the border, so it is a little too foofy for my taste, but it had to do. WOO HOO! I did it!!!

I made this for my little sister's Sweet 16 - her theme was "Pretty in Pink!" It's chocolate cake with cookies & cream filling (from Whimsical Bakehouse). It's iced in BC with BC accents & MMF balls covered in pearl sheer dust. I also homemade the topper (her initial). It's my favorite cake I've made yet - so much fun!

This was my first real experience with fondant and stacked cakes. It was for a couple getting married in Vegas but they had the shower here in town. The sign on top was downloaded and I photoshopped the couples name in and then laminated it. The coins, trees, and dice are all plastic.

This was my very first (no directions) stacked cake. I made it for a friend for her baby shower, she originally had given me a photo of a wedding cake on fondant in this was my version of that because I did not how to work with fondant yet. My friend wanted it to look like stacked gifts, and wanted the 3 pearl design throughout the gifts. I love using real ribbon so I cut small pieces and inserted them vertickally to make it looked like a wrapped figts. Froisting is vanilla whipped cream & piped dots.

I had the shaped pan, but not the plastic insert. So i had to freehand her face and body. I made this one out of a stacked cake and the wilton whipped icing topping. It was fun to work with but it warmed too quickly and was a little runny to work with.

I made this for my best friend's son. She gave me the plate and invite and gave me free reign to do whatever. I love it when people do that!! This was my first time making the little bear, glad I did a practice one first, as his head fell off the practice version! LOL

I had so much fun making this cake after seeing the one in the gallery that jjcakes made. I had never stacked a cake before -- scary -- but thanks to all the great information on stacking in the forum section, it worked out well. Top 6" cake is french vanilla with strawberry filling, bottom 10" cake is chocolate/vanilla/chocolate with chocolate pudding filling. Made for a 50th birthday celebration.

This was my first ordered cake. A stacked birthday cake for a Thanksgiving Birthday. "Happy Birthday" was written in snow white detail on all four sides of the bottom layer. Fondant pearls with Copper Luster Dust. The cake was Autumn Spice.

This is the first wedding cake I did. It was for my sister. Also the first fondant cake I had ever done. The fondant was a little thick, as were the layers (because I didn't know I was supposed to trim them). My sister loved it. Although it didn't look bad for it being made by a amature, I dont think anyone ate the fondant, it didn't do much for the cake.

My teacher let me do what ever I wanted as long as it was a stacked cake... Long story short... I'm really proud of this cake... I found out somethings even on the last day that was useful... it is choc/choc bav crem/bc frosting... and a butter pecan/choc bav crem/ bc frosting...

Just got my new WBH book so I decided to try and replicate the Whimsical cake in there. Woah, there's a LOT of colours in this thing!! So this is my first WBH cake, first stacked cake, first big cake, first "public" cake (ie not for family). Hope it tastes good...
WBH coffee-chocolate flavour, with crushed Oreo & whipped cream filling. Surprisingly not overly sweet. I hope the flavour of the cake/filling can combat the taste of the Wilton gel colour which is present in the icing.

I was asked to do a cake from the Hugs & Stitches invitations, and got all excited, and then all the mom wanted was polka dots on the cake. Doh, how boring! So, I had a little fun with the smash cake instead and made a little rocket. :) Thanks for looking!

This is my first entry into a contest, so I hope it is received well. Made for a family Holiday party. Top layer white cake w/ apricot filling, bottom layer white cake w/ strawberry filling, MMF cover and snowmen, BC snowflakes. MA had just been hit w/ the first major snowfall of the season the night before this party, so i changed the cake theme & decorated till 2:30 am.

This is a heavy fruit cake, with marzipan, and fondant. The inspiration was a cake from Kerry Vincent's "Romantic Wedding Cakes". But, as this was a Golden Wedding, I adapted it a bit, to introduce the gold. I used realistic looking fondant roses too, instead of the "satin roses". It was hard work but so rewarding! I was very pleased with it.

I had another design in mind, but after making all my flowers, I realized I didn't make enough for what I needed, hence this traditional Stacked Cake. Good thing they were happy with whatever I would make for them. Coordinated it with their Periwinkle and Royal Blue colors. All flowers were made of Gumpaste.
