Thankfully, the first wedding cake order I had was quite simple...meringue icing with beaded borders and fresh orchids!  It was a heavy bad boy, but it made it in one piece!

A 4 tier, square wedding cake, iced in buttercream, with a diamond pattern inlaid into icing, and fondant pearls, it was decorated with flowers to match the brides bouquet and table decorations.  3 different flavors and the grooms cake was white.

Just did this today. The simple 3 tier cake was surrounded by fresh wheatgrass on the display table. Reminded me of Easter a bit! I wish I had put the cake on a higher stand though, as the bottom tier was nearly swallowed up by the long grass!

The bride loved purple!  I created this cake with several different flavors so the guests could have a variety.  It is adorned with buttercream and fondant bows.

Spice cake with maple buttercream icing. Fresh sugared fruit including apricots, apples, pears, plums, nectarines and cherries to match the bride's colors of red, gold and green.

This 7", 10", 13", 16" square wedding cake was entirely done in red velvet cake with creme cheese frosting.  The bride's colors were off white, white, and deep red.  In order to enhance the effect, I used a white dotted swiss accents and borders on the off white creme cheese icing.  The roses were place between the layers to hide the pillars.  I do not usually work in creme cheese for wedding cakes, but after experimenting with my recipes I finally found the right combination for stability.

This is definitely not one of my favorite cakes and I debated to even load the pic (that's how bad I didn't like this cake, lol)  This was the brides choice of cake .. it was made exactly to her specifications .. icing was buttercream.. I used the super enhanced cake mix recipe from here .. flowers are fresh and again, the brides choice of flowers.. her colors were lavendar and silver.

This is a birthday cake I made for my sister's birthday today. First attempt at a square cake. The three piped stars at the top are candle inserts. I was inspired by another photo that I saw in the gallery, which had two tiers. However, I'm not sure I am ready for that yet.

10" square double layer white cake with ivory buttercream and ivory basketweave.  The flowers are also made from buttercream.

Finnito! This is my nightmare cake, as I had problems with my batter...The cakes are 6,8,10 & 12 filled with my favorite almond scented caked with almond espresso buttercream filling. The bride wanted wine colored roses that cascaded in front of the cake...I'm not 100% happy with the cascade, but both the bride and groom loved it, so I'm content.

Buttercream icing and swags, with royal icing roses and leaves.  Each tier is turned at slightly different angle and each is a different flavor.  12", 10", and  8" tiers with push in pillars.

I made this for my little sister's Sweet 16 - her theme was "Pretty in Pink!" It's chocolate cake with cookies & cream filling (from Whimsical Bakehouse). It's iced in BC with BC accents & MMF balls covered in pearl sheer dust. I also homemade the topper (her initial). It's my favorite cake I've made yet - so much fun!

This was my monster cake on Saturday!  I've never done anything this big, and I am so relieved it's over!  The bride picked this design - and at first I thought it would look a little wierd, but it really grew on me.  Her colors were brown and ivory.  This is a view from the back

New to group and wanted to share a pic.  Been doing cake decorating since May 05 and really enjoy it.  Getting a lot a lip from other guys in the office cause I'm decorating.  Oh Well.....

This cake was made for my brother on his wedding day.  3 tiered square cake.  Bottom was chocolate, middle was white and top lemon..  covered in vanilla buttercream with royal icing roses.

My first wedding cake. Done in the smallest kitched I've ever seen. All vegan white cake with lemmon filling. Ran out of time and supplies, oh well. I should have coverd the cake boards, and done the sweral design on the top layer too. The bottom design is a row of Ankhs (Ancient Egyptian hieroglyph meaning eternal life) make with tip 12 and Jordan Almonds. The bride (my best friend) didn't know what she wanted except green.

This was a baby shower cake I did with the colors that she had chosen for her nursery. The little feet are gumpaste and the rest is buttercream.

This was a recreation of my brother's wedding cake for his 10th anniversary. Its white cake with raspberry filling and covered in buttercream. The sides are basketweave and the top is cornelli lace. The pansies were store bought royal. The original cake had fresh pansies but we opted for these instead.

This was the cake that was suppose to have been done the weekend Rita hit Louisiana.  All the flowers I had made, melted from the heat when we lost power.  I got a call late Monday telling me the wedding was rescheduled for this Friday.  The bows made previoussly from fondant had fallen didn't look right. I didn't realize it so I had my sister make bows from ribbon and used on the corners of the cake.  The flowers are made from gumpaste and centers were brushed with magenta luster dust.

Wanted to try the square corner method in the tutorial - not as easy as it looks!  Lemon cake, lemon curd filling.  The colors remind me of sherbet flavors - love them together.

Square three tier slightly turned on each tier.  Sage green buttercream icing with offwhite cornellia lace on top.  Flowers were fresh and completed by a local florists.

This cake was made for a co-worker who goes out of her way to help others; we had a little thank you celebration for her at work.  8" Square lemon cake covered and decorated with tinted red fondant.

I did this cake at the WMI seminar in Chicago the end of October.  It is my very first attempt at a fondant cake.  Thisi is a display cake made out of a 10" styrofoam square covered and decorated in fondant.

I have never had such a hard tiem woth frosting but this chocolate frosting was the pitts! This is not what I was planning on doing for the cake but its what htey ended up with. SHe told me do do chocolate and then what I wanted .
I am dissapointed with this cake but I thought I would post it anyway.

10" square yellow cake with strawberry/pineapple filling.  Turkey is FBCT.  Corn is piped over tip 6 oblong with tip 2 and 3 dots of color.  Tip 352 was used for corn stalk.

This is the largest and only the second wedding cake that I had ever made. It is buttercream frosting trimmed with silver ribbon and accented with silver and white flowers.  The flowers were only supposed to be lightly sprayed with the silver, but there was a mix up with the florist.  Instead of all white roses she ordered ivory with pink tips.  Either way the cake tasted great.  The cake was for my BIL wedding.  They loved it.  (Although I saw every flaw!)

I had a hard time making this cake because I just don't like this color and then having to hand pipe a bazillion little stars on it.  Not to mention the bride said "I'd lots of little stars, think no bigger than your thumbnail"  Arrrrgh!!!!  Needlesss to say my hand had cramps.  I did talk you out of putting dark red roses all over it as well.  I suggested it might be getting a little too busy.  Oh well, it came together better than the cakes looked individually.

The bride wanted the layers to be chunky.  A family friend did the flowers.  The icing was a frozen non-dairy topping that needs to be thawed & then whipped.  It's very nice to work with, but not in HOT weather.
