I just wanted to share some Topiary Cookiepops I made in anticipation of Easter/Spring/Mother's Day. They would even be nice favors at a bridal shower. I got the idea from the Wilton web site.

This was the final cake I made in my cake decorating class. All the flowers are buttercream. This is the second cake I ever (seriously) decorated. The butterfly is a bc transfer and the wings actually stood up! But fell during the night when I had it covered.

My son made this for his teacher who had just lost her grandfather and then got hit head on in an auto accident. He helped with the fondant (Satin Ice) and used edible markers to draw the pictures. He picked out the flowers from my "collection" that I keep on hand. She loved it!

I copied this off the cake in Good Housekeeping magazine but changed the bunny to two daffodil flowers. It was fun making it. I loved that I had to buy a bag of M&M's for the project and eat the rest that weren't green. :-)

A friend was moving and I needed a Spring idea, so I made this. I like how the basketweave turned out, but the daffodils were my first attempt, and I've since practiced and improved, but here is the cake.

I made this to try out a new cake an icing on friends at my former work place. They're my more than willing guinea pigs. It's french vanilla with dream whip icing. The icing was a little grainy when I made it but hope it's not when it's cut. The icing was also a little soft for the drop flowers but they came out okay. One of those things only the decorator knows. I took this after it was tented in plastic, to explain the shine.

The theme of the show was "New Beginnings". My cake represented the life cycle as a caterpillar turns into a butterfly. There were 5 size stages of caterpillars shown, as well as the crysalis and butterflies on top.
The butterflies were made following directions on this site. I hand-modeled the caterpillars and colored them with a combination of pens and gel colors. The leaves were made with marbelized fondant.

This was done while I was taking Wilton's course I. The flowers, leaves, butterflies, eggs, and fenceposts are sugar cookies iced with color flow. The "dirt" is crumbled chocolate wafer cookies.

This was a birthday cake for a customer. Very simple decoration, the cake recipe is a special one though. It's an eggless, milkless, butterless cake. Her son is allergic to eggs so I found this recipe and they loved it.

This is another cake that I did for a rubber stamping club meeting. I had a lot of fun with this cake. (Having two boys, I don't get to do many "girly" things.) The icing is buttercream and the flowers are royal.

Just because I wanted to play with fondant butterflys... This cake started out as just for practice but it ended up being given to my husband's work for March Birthdays. It is "Funfitti" box mix with bc frosting and fondant flowers and shimmer dusted butterflys. I am just starting to use fondant and having a lot of fun. Any tips are welcome...
p.s. I can smooth icing very well but I wanted it to have a spring sky type texture, you cant tell it in the pic. but there is some white mixed in to make clouds

I made this cake for my "All about Moms" group. It was our first moms meeting of the year. I just thought flowers and grass would make it look springy - is that a word? All the moms loved it.

These are the first royal icing cookies I have ever done. My white royal icing was too thick. Better ones coming once my son takes his nap. I have to make 12 dozen of these for a school function. Good thing I love decorating. I wouldn't have had the courage to try if it hadn't been for you guys. Used the no fail sugar cooke recipe. It is true. Ya can't fail!

This was a birthday cake for my sister. I used royal frosting flowers that I made in course 2 and course 3. I used homemade marshmallow fondant to cover the cake. It turned out great!
