As you can tell, I have gotten MUCH inspiration from this site! Thanks to you all! The outfit is a design from Gymboree. I decided to go with the socks instead of the usual booties. The lady I did this cake for loved it! Carrot cake with cream cheese frosting and mmf accents.

I took this cake design from cmmom (thanks, cmmom). Bottom tier was chocolate, top tier was white cake. Iced in buttercream with fondant accents. I printed the topper from the computer. I also printed out a picture of my dad when he was young, laminated them, and then taped them to toothpicks to make cupcake picks. It turned out really well. i was please with the outcome for the most part :)

This is the second cake for the lady turning 50 who didn't want anything gloomy or "over the hill." The dancers and records are chocolate. The rest is buttercream.

Made this cake for a friend. She loves sock monkies. I decied to do them brown, instead of the traditional gray. The monkies are having a game of marbles. Cake is chocolate with bavarian cream filling, covered in BC. Monkies and bananas were made with fondant/gumpaste and all other accents made from fondant. She really liked it. Thanks for looking.

Cake for the Cub Scouts Birthday Sock Hop Party. Made with the whipped frosting recipe from this website. Some of the details are in buttercream. Was going to make stacked tiers and changed to this design at the last minute.

This is for a little girl who is very attached to her socks! Instead of a blankie, she sleeps with her socks, and even carries them around during the day...! Fondant figure, socks and blanket. Thanks for looking!

This was for a Red Sox fan. Yellow cake with almond-rum icing.
Red was piped in rows of shells to resemble 'knitted rib' look. White accents were piped stars. Lettering was piped with a round tip then 'stitched' with a wet brush.

This was for my son's 13th b-day. He collects sock monkeys. It even had the red spot on it's bottom. The outdoor party was on a humid day and sadly sock monkey started to fall to pieces. He still tasted good!

I made this for my husband's daughter. She wanted a 50's sock hop themed B-Day party. Being from Southern Oklahoma and it was one of the HOTTEST days of May, the BC Icing started to slide of the cake, but you can get the idea.

Adapting a design I'd seen here on CakeCentral, I made a three tiered cake for my mom's 50th birthday sock hop. This was my first real cake (aside from the practice cakes I made in Wilton classes.). The bottom tier (10in) was chocolate with peanutbutter filling and the two top tiers (6in, 8in) were WASC with lemon buttercream filling. Everyone asked me where I got it and I was pleased to say "in my kitchen."

These were done for a fundraiser themed 1950's and Sweetest Day. It was a lot of work, but I am pretty happy with how they turned out.

This cake was so much fun! It was for a 6 year old little girl who was having a 50' s sock hop party. Both cakes are iced in buttercream. Girl, ice cream soda, records and player are fondant/gumpaste. The girl's sweater is piped in RI. There are two pink poodles I piped on either side of the name out of buttercream.
