My sister collects rubber duckies so I made her a duck graduation cake... complete with a pond! The sheet cake is half chocolate/half vanilla cake, the duck and cake the frog is on are strawberry, and the two round cakes under the duck are funfetti. Tons of blue buttercream with all gumpaste accents and critters. The tassels on the duck's and frog's hats are made with sewing thread in her school's colors. Not bad for my first time using gumpaste!

It is tradition in our family that I make my cousin a birthday cake so when I asked her what she wanted she came up with this reply " a multi coloured snail" So that is what she got :o)

A client wanted either a princess crown or a big 1 for her DD first birthday. She emailed me a copy of the party stuff she'd bought, and the crown was plain pink in this shape. I added a 1 carved out of the scraps, some drop flowers, vines and leaves to "pretty" it up some. I hope she likes it.

I did this cake for my best friends little girls first birthday. It is my second stacked cake. All of the bugs and the fence are made from MMF. I had so much fun doing this cake and got a couple more orders from it too.

Our pharmacy intern's rotation is up, and we wanted a cake for his last day. I tried to make it more masculine by avoiding flowers. Orange butter cake from the Whimsical Bakehouse, buttercream with a touch of orange flavoring and cream cheese sleeve filling. The cake is filled with orange flavored cream cheese filling. Hope he likes it.

All made from fondant and hand molded and painted. THe topper was ceramic.
Each tier is 6" tall. I worked 11 hours assembling the cake, not including the time for making the dragonflies, frogs, crowns, flowers, snails which were all made in advance.
cost $2500.

8" and 6" layers, and a 3" smash cake for a first birthday. Covered in fondant, all decorations are fondant and fondant/gumpaste mix. The rays of the sun are fondant/gumpaste stuck on with gumpaste and royal icing. The clouds are royal icing, as is the writing on the plaque. I had a lot of fun with this one! Inspiration came from several different cakes on this site! If you have made a cake with bugs or a sun, thank you!

Thank you Dinkadoo for the idea & inspiration. This cake was for a baby shower at church. This is my 1st time doing fondant or gumpaste anything. The roses, leaves, bow, snails, blanket, and garland are all half & half fondant & gumpaste. The cake is white with almond custard and buttercream frosting.

Finally, here's the bouquet for my daughters' school silent auction ( it was postponed from last week due to a snow storm). I decided not to use the frozen cookies that I made last week and I did new ones yesterday. Curious to see how much it makes. All sugar cookies (Penny's recipe) with royal icing.

This was my first time experimenting with fondant. I used buttercream to frost the cake and royal icing for the flowers. The snail and the rope were made from marshmallow fondant. The sign post is made from royal icing as well.

This is the back side of the snail and sign. The sign cracked when I pick it up and I debated about not using it. Once I put it on the cake and added the flowers it really just added to the overall look of an "old sign". The guests loved it!

Stacked 2 tier cake. Top cake is 2 layer yellow iced and filled with raspberry BC and covered with MMF. Bottom cake is 2 layer chocolate filled with fudge and iced in BC. Grass is BC; Bunny, skunk, hedgehogs, mushrooms, snails, turtle, and fence posts are all MMF and gum paste. This cake was so much fun to do! It was my first time making fondant/gum paste figures. Thanks to all who helped with directions and pictures.

this was for a friend's daughter who specifically requested a fairy cake with butterflies and pink roses on it. The roses look a little red in the picture but they were actually pink. I had fun making the various elements on this cake. The snail, mushrooms, flowers, name and skirt were all done in MMF. The bodice and grass are buttercream. The wings and butterflies are wafer paper. Thanks for looking!!

I went crazy with the fondant/gumpaste. The flowers and wings are gumpaste. The bugs are all fondant. The anthill is just frosting covered in crushed graham crackers (from a pie crust). The eyeballs are sprinkles. The bugs were time consuming but very easy.

This is a cake I did on the fly for my niece. Many thanks to Claylady and Tat, whose snails, ladybugs, and flowers served as a guide. This was my first time making those types of insects and I was very happy with the way they turned out, so was my three year old niece! The insects and flowers are done with Wilton Fondant. The cake is covered in MMF, which I painted with green food coloring.

These were made for a silent auction for tomorrow night, which looks like it will be postponed because of snow! No snow all year and now we get it in March! So, I'll either have to freeze them or make new ones next week. They are sugar cookies with royal icing. I don't think you can notice, but I had lots of problems with the icing being very dull and uneven.
