This was the first cake I ever made for someone else for money...and I was quite pleased with how it turned out.I transfered the design onto a sheet cake by drawing it on waxed paper, then "pricking" around the design with a toothpick, and colouring the design in with buttercream.

This is a cut-out cake that I made for a retirement party. I used two square pans so I had two flavors. I drew out a template and cutout the cake and then outlined the design in dark grey buttercream and filled in with buttercream. The bottom border is done with a bag striped with blue and red and filled with white buttercream to get the tri-color effect.

The girl who ordered this cake just said it was for an 80's themed birthday party. She left the design (& flavors!) up to me! I made marble cakes from scratch filled with chocolate buttercream & iced with vanilla buttercream. I made 80's themed chocolate transfers all around the sides. (You can see them better in another photo I have up!) Thanks for looking!

This was for a Smurf themed couples shower. The base is a 9x13 double. The mushroom house is made from a 6 round double that was carved just a bit to give the roundness at the top and the roof was made from a RKT covered in fondant. Fondant decorations. Chocolate fudge cake with chocolate buttercream

This was a near disaster. I was very tired, and when I flipped my FBCT onto the cake I put it the WRONG way, with the picture facing down!! :( How many of these have I done??!!! Had to scrape it off, re-do the top of the cake, re-do the FBCT.....aaarrrgghhhh!! I didn't realize kids knew about smurfs these days (thought they were lost in the 80's!), but apparently they're still on TV!

This is my first attempt at at fondant cake. I used MMF and I loved doing this. The smurfs and the barrel are completely fondant, the rest is cake with fondant overlay. I made this for my final cake in the fondant class.

My dad calls me smurfette and I always call him papa smurf. I made this cake for him for father's day. It was my first attempt at make a "special" cake and not the ordinary round cake. It was a huge hit and lots of fun!

The bride wanted lots of color and Carolina blue. The groom wanted coconut on top. The groom's 6-year-old wanted white stars on the cake, and the MotB wanted me to paint the groom on the topper blue, because the groom's nickname is Smurf. So they all got their wish. this was an emergency wedding cake, as their cake lady had to bow out at the very last minute. I had three days to plan and execute! :P
WASC cake with buttercream icing. I did all the roses in the 'on a stick' method, which ROCKS. 12-8-6"

This was for a friend's dad whose nickname is "Papa Smurf". I added a mailbox to the left of the door after I took photos - I wanted to be sure I got pics before she arrived to pick it up.

Coloring icing is hard! This is my first iced cake, decorated May 18, 2009 as part of the Wilton class. I couldn't get a good red! I even tried putting some red baby food in the icing. My icing turned out yellow instead of white to start off with, because I used half butter and half butter flavored shortening to make the icing. I didn't have black coloring, so I used cocoa to get brown. I learned a lot! The smurf is holding "The Red Tent" by Anita Diamont, because this cake is for my book club!
