You get a better idea of the base of the cake... I know I needed to clean up the edges around the candy, but it was already 1 in the morning of his birthday party. He's one... what does he know? ;)

This is the smash cake that went with the tiered pink teddy bear cake. Daddy calls the little one "Piglet" so they requested a pig on the smash cake. Cake was vanilla with strawberry buttercream also. Pig was done with Kathy Finholt's glaze method.

I covered both cakes with marblized fondant, (darker on the bottom to simulate water and lighter on top layer to simulate the sky). In the water, I freehand painted turtles and fish. For the fish I added piping gel mixed with pixie dust for shimmering effect. I freehanded the underwater grasses. On the top half for the clouds I used brush embrodery and used blue petal dust to accent the clouds and to give shadow. On clouds I also added super pearl for sheen. Frogs are all made out of fondant.

This was fun - I was so inspired by others on this site - kimistry, trisha1972 and charman all led me in the right direction. Thank you all! The cakes are strawberry with whipped raspberry filling. The smash cake worked just as it should have - the photos will be adorable.

This is a close up of the smash cake. It was put on top of the Blues Clues cake I posted earlier. It was made from the small bear pan and frosted with buttercream. The ears are fondant covered with buttercream. Hat and presents are also fondant.

11x15" shhet cake with 4" smash cake. It was an honor to do this one! I made the Mom's baby shower cake while she was expecting. This is my first BCT of Strawberry Shortcake, my first thought was "great...this is going to be simple!" But, I didn't realize how many details this little girl has!

This is the smash cake I did for my nieces 1st birthday. I used flourescent posterboard for the petals. It was real easy and my niece loved it. I think she had quite a sugar buzz the rest of the day :)

Here's a close up of the miniature cake. It's a 4", 3", 2". It looks a little lost above the mammoth cake below it, but it will be the perfect size for Gracie!

The baseball is a 6 inch round, a smash for Mason's 1st b-day and the basketball is 8 inch round filled w chocolate pudding, made to serve to the guests. Mason is the son of one of my co-workers. I did these for cost hoping to get some word of mouth.

This is for a friend's little boy. She wanted construction as the theme. The pieces are chocolate transfers - this is a first for me. I love the way they aren't so fragile, but creating the color black without making the candy seize was not an easy task for me. I haven't had much experience in the chocolate department. I could've gotten my lines a bit more angled and evenly spaced.
