my very first MMF cake. my inspiration was a cake from "the essentials of cake decorating". made the MMF from recipes found on CC and decided to just jump in feet first even though i had no idea what i was doing.

This was a cherry chip cake with pink icing. We took a peice out and put it on top and covered the inside cake and slice with white BC and put pink dots on it.

Thanks to Suebee, Cambo, Pinkbunny and Psurrette for posting their versions of this style of "trompe l'oeil" cake. I loved them all and thought I'd try my hand at something fun. The client gave me the floral design to copy somewhere on a cake, so I did it as the side pattern and wowed him with the rest.

One thing I couldn't do was to put my slice standing up. The cake itself was already 6" tall, so it was too delicate to have another 6" standing on top....so I laid it on it's side instead.

Thanks antonia74 for the idea for this one! This is my first paid order. It's for a surprise party for a friend's wife. He told me that he wanted white cake with choc. mousse filling and iced in pastry pride and then let me take creative liberties with the rest. After icing it completely, I froze the cake and then used a really hot knife to cut out a slice and placed it right on top. Just ice the exposed cake and this is what you get! Really fun to do!

This was done for a small wedding about 60 miles away. I was really worried about the transporte (hung over groom picked it up with 2 hung over friends in SUV) but it made the trip just fine. This was a vanilla cake with strawberries & cream filling covered in fondant.

Decorated with royal icing. These are supposed to be slices of pepperoni and broccili & pineapple pizza. First time I ever made these, a bit rough but ok. The customer LOVED them which is always good :)

This was a donation cake to raise money or families with kids that have cancer. I had to really rush to get this done and my icing was too soft. But everyone loved it anyway.

I have been waiting for the chance to do these since I saw them in the Wilton yearbook. The little girl loves RKT and wanted something different for her birthday. Candy melts for frosting, M&M and sprinkles for decorations.

This was my attempt at the "slice" cake beautifully done my marmalade cakes and oheers on CC. I decided to do my own birthday cake to have some fun. it took me forever to ice,and I couldn't figure out what was wrong. I realized later that I had made the buttercream recipe minus one stick of butter!! Anyway, it is Kahlua fudge cake with chocolate whipped ganache filling. Thanks for looking!

8" Orange Butter Cake w/ Orange Mousse and 12" Chocolate Butter Cake with Cookies & Cream. Since we planned on taking the kids out of town to my parents & having the birthday party up there, I only planned on making the 8" for a little family dinner this past Wednesday. DH kept inviting more and more people, so the small Wed night dinner became a big Satuday party, and the cake got bigger too. Lucky little birthday girl is gonna get another cake next weekend!

Wasc cake. I have wanted to try one of these for awhile. It was fun to make! BC icing. It would have been nicer looking with fondant but I was using up left over bc. Maybe next time!

Pic 2 of 2. (See other pic of the whole cake). Just wanted to show what the inside of my special-request-cake for pink and green funfetti looked like! Slices shown are white cake with pink and green funfetti (from CK Products ... bag was marked "Pink Jimmies" and "Green Jimmies"), which were the wedding colors. Some had choc fudge filling and some had red raspberry filling. LOTS of comments on how unique this was!

This was my second wedge cake. It went a lot smoother this time around. I was just going to make the design and came across 2yummy's wedge cake that was also strawberry shortcake (different design) and decided to do the same. TFL.

Many thanks to tnt320to for such a great design...I loved her cake so much I wanted to try it...the slice of cake was a little crooked, but overall I liked doing this cake. I made it for my MIL's b-day and it didn't make the drive so she got a crashed cake!

Cake was a last minute order. Gentleman wanted a nice cake for his mom turning 85. Only thing he asked for was that it said "Kat is 85". Everything else was up to me. This is what I came up with. All CBC with fondant roses and banner.
