Real flowers adorned this cake. Decoration is fairly simple with lily of the valley. Simple is elegant. It's important to remember to give the florist the dimensions between the pillars for the arrangements. Even providing them with a template will help them in designing the inside arrangements so they enhance the cake.

Wedding cake I made for this past weekend. Plain, simple, easy, elegant. Buttercream on the outside - the inside was white velvet cake with hazelnut. This pic is without the bride's antique cake toppers though...

The worst was transporting a buttercream cake in this unreal humidity!

This was a very simple cake. The picture doesn't show the detail well at all (before digital cameras), but it was swirled with a star tip, buttercream dotted boarder with tiny strands of pearls.

This was my first time working with fondant. It turned out OK. Since I had a very small wedding, I decided do make something simple. I made the roses myself too and still have them!

I made this cake for my DH's office (5 guys) after they completed a huge project for a big-money client. I was practicing getting my frosting smooth. It's a french vanilla cake with BC frosting. The piping is raspberry flavored.

This is a cake I made for My 11 year old niece for her birthday. She wanted a "Frilly white wedding cake." I've never done a wedding cake before but this is what I came up with. She was pleased. The B is suposed to be sticking into the cake but it broke on the way. Had extra just in case, and they were all safely taped to the floor in the back. My 17 month old son threw his sippy cup down on them. LOL Live and learn...

I told her I really didn't have much time to go all out decorating it but still wanted me to make the cake. Golden Vanilla cake with choc. frosting recipe I got from here. I filled it with dark choc. mousse. The color scheme I got from a argyle cake someone here had decorated.

After 7yrs and 3 kids, my DH and I finally tied the knot this past Saturday.
Here's the simple, but elegant cake that I made for our wedding.

All white cake (16, 14, 12 , 10X3) tiers with all BC. Wilton fancy fountain, silk flowers and wooden monogram letters that I spray painted.

I made sure to keep the cake as simple as possible (since of course, I had plenty to worry about) and I let the presentation be what impressed people the most.

I made this cake for my cousin's 21st birthday. It is a White Russian cake (white cake filled with Kahlua buttercream.) The fondant isn't very smooth....I crumb-coated the cake w/buttercream. How do I get the fondant smoother at the bottom of the cake? (I have a lot to learn!)

The bride requested a simple grooms cake to place her funny topper. The colors of the hearts matched the bride's cake and the flowers are also a match.

I adore 2 tiers! Especially when the client agrees to pick them up! Yippee!! Half the struggle is delivering in the summer.

Nice and simple, yummy fresh berries in each tier. 6" tall tiers. So happy with it that the bride didn't want to decorate it with any flowers. I agree. Nice and clean!

Choc. cake with choc filling covered in buttercream then fondant with white and gold ribbon. Roses and leaves are fondant. Brought it over to the hall in parts and stacked and piped the border there. It was a big hit! Very proud of my first one!

...my first marshmallow fondant cake - first time making & using it. I made this cake for some friends' baby shower. We had lots of desserts, so we just needed a smaller cake (8".) (Though really sweet, it tastes so much better than the nasty Wilton stuff.) I'm not very experienced w/fondant, so I had a couple small tears on the back. I need to learn how to work with it better. (french vanilla cake w/strawberry filling - buttercream crumb coat covered w/MMF) TFL

First attempt at a fondant wedding cake. The bride requested VERY simple look - not a lot of decoration. It made us very nervous since we would have no way to cover our fondant mistakes! But, it actually went much better than we had anticipated - and that never happens!

Basic BD cake...I cheated on the colors and used little tubes of gel icing from the store for the streamers...BAD idea...they dripped and ran and were otherwise yukky. Just can't beat the consistency of homemade!

This is my first wedding cake. I started the Wilton classes three months ago and I wanted to get some practice and add some wedding cake pictures in my album. It is yellow cake with buttercream frosting. The lillies are made from royal icing. Let me know what you think. I don't mind pointers at all.

This is the first wedding cake I've ever made. Each of the layers is a red velvet cake, which I had never even heard of prior to this! The kicker to the whole story is that I was also the best man at the wedding! :)
