This fun cake is one of my most popular designs since I'm located in Florida. The seashells are white chocolate, each hand decorated.

For a fisherman's retirement. Cakes baked in jelly mold for basic shape, covered in fondant and luster-dusted. Sugar shells, starfish, lobster and royal-icing corals. Scales made with back of icing tip, fins are thinly rolled & scored fondant.
All on a bed of "seaweed" (lettuce).

This was for a co-worker's 6 year old "Little Mermaid" birthday party. This is the first cake I made for someone else - I just started cake decorating about 6 months ago and up to now it's been all practice.
The small shells, starfish and pearls are handmade fondant painted with luster dust. The large shells are molded candy sitting on brown sugar sand. The treasure chest is graham crackers with chocolate basket weave. The seaweed is royal icing but everything else is buttercream. I had great fun!

This was a gift for my friends wedding. All the teirs are cake dummies except for the top. I made all the chocolate sea shells and dusted them with pearl dust. All the real shells are from my moms own collection she picked up on the beach. Everyone loved this cake and had NO IDEA it was fake. The reason for making it fake was because I helped out at the church and that the travel time from my house was about 2 hours. I had sheet cakes in the kitchen for them to cut. French vanilla torted with red rasberry.

After our Florida beach wedding, we held another reception at home. This was one of the beach theme I tried to keep similar to the wedding cake. White chocolate shells and basic buttercream decoration.

This is an edible image of one of my favorite wedding pics that I decided to put on a Hummingbird flavor, three layer cake for our reception at home. It was really impressive in it's size (hard to see how tall it really was) and it was a big hit! (Yep, this is me and my new hubby! Still happy after 56 days!) :o)

This was my first big cake to set up and finish on site! I was a nervous wreck. Thankfully it was for a friends mother's birthday. They loved it, and I have decided that is why we do it, not for the money, but for the smile on their faces. Thanks for all the wonderful ideas from this site for the creation.

I made this cake for an 11 year old girl who lives in the Caribbean. The trees were made of gumpaste and left to dry overnight. The cake is covered in fondant, the island on the cake is made from chocolate cake scraps and covered with graham cracker crumbs and the shells are formed in shell molds

This is only my 5th (I think) cake. I am really happy with the way it turned out. The color is a little off though - it's not quite as orange as it looks. Anyway, it's strawberry with bc icing thinned with karo syrup. My first attempt at airbrushing as well as doing an actual shape other than round or oval.

I made this cake for my youngest sister who was in town visiting from Florida. It is an 8" double layer chocolate box cake with 8" single layer "lid". The lid has her first initial "E" on the top. The shells are made with sugar and water packed in a mold. The pearls were supposed to be fondant, but my daughter needed my attention before I finished making them and they dried on me. So I used my Grandmother's pearls. I know if she were still with us she would have loved the addition.

These chocolates (yes chocolate) :) were all hand made by me. They are also flavored! Butter rum, vanilla butter nut, coconut, and mint to name a few. It is eatable art! People can't believe that they are eatable and that they are chocolate. Most people think they are REAL shells! You can see some of the other shells I have been making on my website Enjoy!

First attempt at reverse shell. I like it! Once you get the pattern going. The sides of the cake and smaller reverse shell around the middle and letters are dark green. Interesting excercise figuring out how to do the top one color and the sides another.

Okay, I couldn't stand it. I tried to clean up the 18 a little. Then decided to make the camo look like stitched fabric. I always do this; take a picture of that cake then decide after looking at it I need to change some things. :-) Wish we were able to delete pics! :-)

Studied and experimented to be sure this turned out right. Not quite a cookie or a cake. Made for my mother-in-law's 50th birthday to say she is a pearl after 50 years. Tortilla cut into a scallop shape and baked into a bowl, covered in melted white chocolate, then brushed on pearl dust. Added a dark chocolate edge (lots of pics of oysters had it where the top shell broke off). Pearl is made of white chocolate plastic with pearl dust too. Starfish: white/dark chocolate combo and white choc/peanut butter.

This is a cake that I did for my daughter's 6th birthday. The theme was a Hawaiian Luau. I had 3 others Hula Dancers on the side, but I did not get a great picture of them.

Whipped icing (Bettercreme) with fondant ribbon, hand molded chocolate shells dry dusted with lustre dust. The larger shells & the chair are made from MMF. I ended up carving out the letters and filling with icing because it wouldn't hold the shape. Used crushed vanilla oreos for the sand.

I made this cake for my elderly neighbor. She has 6 kids, and doesn't know the last time she heard from any of them on her birthday. I wanted to make her something bright and cheerful, yet not too vibrant, but sweet. It is chocolate cake with all almond buttercream. It was my first time doing brush embroidery, vines, and reverse shell border. I am taking Wilton Course 3 now, and just learned these techniques!

This is what it looked like when I took it to the party. If anyone knows how to get that nice marbled appearance that is pictured on the outside of the seashell chocolate mold, please share! I wanted those orange shells to be white and orange, but the two colors just melded...
