Just did these for a local sewing machine store (I was so glad to be able to use the cutters again! I bought them for my sister-in-law's birthday. She is a costume designer for movies, so she loved them, but I thought I wouldn't use them a second time!)

I made this cake not long after having started cake decorating and it's still one of my favorites. Pound cake decorated with fondant. I love all the colors and I always wonder what the two of them are talking about when I look at the pictures :)

Chocolate buttermilk cake and Italian meringue buttercream, with fondant decorations and edible image label. Top two layers are fake cakes. This is the first time using my edible image printer. I also made a sewing pattern envelope but it's not shown in the picture. Everything covered in luster dust.

Just made 2 cookies to thank a bride and groom. Their cupcakes had gumpaste buttons as the decoration, which were the theme of the wedding. (She worked in a button factory! how adorable)

I made this for my mom's surprise 60th birthday party. She loves to sew and quilt, so I used that as a theme and incorporated her favorite colors. I used 6" (white cake) and 10" (choc) layers, all iced in very vanilla buttercream with fondant accents (buttons and strips of ric-rac, ribbon, fabric). The spool is made from stacked shortbread cookies, iced with a tad of buttercream, covered with a sheet of green fondant and then wrapped with individual "threads." Used a round cutter for top and bottom.

6 inch butter cake. All credit to BIKEGAL who gave me permission to copy a design of hers that I have admired for many many months. So kind to give me instructions for the buttons and detail. All covered and accessories in fondant. Made for another teacher at school who is always sewing the costumes for plays and dance performances. Its her birthday. I am real happy with how it turned out. Thanks again BIKEGAL

Made this cake for my grandmother, Scotty, on her 80th birthday. All of the props are made from gum paste and fondant and took several weeks working at night to complete. Ran short on time for actual piping time, so did not make a handle, but she was happy with it : )

Okay! You are not going to believe this one! I had two cakes due in the morning and we were right in the middle of a major snow storm with no power!! I had to decorate both cakes via a lantern light! Can you imagine? It was very difficult. This was after I had worked all day and spent two hours driving home in a blizzard. Patchwork Quilt Cake - Chocolate Cherry with Creamy Cherry Filling covered in MMF. All decorations are MMF.

I made this for my auntie's 70th birthday. It is a fruit cake with RI basket weave and everything sitting in it is made from fondant - except the knitting needles (bamboo sticks) and needle (florist wire). I added the orchid as I'd just finished another cake and that was a spare.

I made this cake for my mom to take to her sister for her birthday. I had trouble with the frosting crusting. So I didn't get to do what I wanted with it. I made all the decorations out of gumpaste.

I made this for my grandma because she loves to sew and quilt. It didn't take long, and I wanted it to be spring colors since her birthday was this week and we are also celebrating Easter at the same time.

I made this "basket" for my mother's 70th birthday. She was and still is an excellent seamstress. It is a yellow cake with chocolate cream, covered with MMF and the details are made from gum paste. It was fun making all these details. The idea came from Nicolas Lodge masterpiece - many thanks.

side view. See the skewers stuck into the base cake. They are cut off 1 3/4 " above the base and the rice crispy portion of the machine body rests on a small circle of cardboard on top of the skewers.
The machine body is two layers of cake, 3" x 4 1/2", then on top of the cake,
a piece of foam core 3" x 6 ". On top of the foam core, rice crispy treats to form the top and the needle side of the machine. Iced all with a thick layer of icing, then covered it with fondant. (nerve wracking!!)

I made this cake for my mother-in-laws birthday. She is really in to sewing and I saw a similar cake like this on CC and I just modified it a little. (sorry I can't remember who did it to give credit to them) It is iced with buttercream and all the decorations are fondant . The needle was my first attempt with luster dust, that is why it looks a little weird.

I made this birthday cake for DH's grandmother. First time trying to make a lid for a cake. The lid kept slipping off. Not perfect but his granny loved it. She tried to open it-thought it was a real sewing box!! Bc with fondant accents. Chocolate transfers of sewing items around the sides.

Here is a birthday cake where the client wanted a cake for her mom...I asked what her hobbies were and she came back with sewing, knitting, dancing and tag sales. I asked to pick one theme she said she wanted all of them on one cake. So this is what I came up with! TFL All fondant except the wire flower in the vase and the knitting needles.
