This was for a graduation party, it is based on the Dr. Seuss book. It was kind of a disaster it was supposed to be topsy turvy but the topsy and the turvy of the top two tiers fell apart. So this is the final product minus topsy turvy I didn't want it to fall apart at the party.

Supposed to look like the Dr. Seuss "Oh the Places You'll Go" book cover. My first attempt at a topsy turvy cake so that went ok. The icing looks, well very homemade!!

Side view. It is supposed to be like 'whoville' with weird little housees but I really had no plan and was short on time.

My cakes are so amateurish compared to the pros out there, but I guess I gotta start somewhere. Thanks to Ilena and Dodd for their pics as inspiration. Cake is chocolate BC, animals are MMF. Hortin is a frosting sheet. Writing looks better from eye view than the pic shows it. Cakeboard is covered in MMF with balloons imprinted on it.

This cake was for my son's cast party after their last performance of Seussical Jr (a shorter version of Seussical the Musical). The only specifications I had were for the flavor, theme, and number of servings (70). This was my first time making a fondant figurine--it was so much fun to do. The odd things sticking out on the sides of the elephant are wings--he's actually an elephant bird. The "clover" are Tootsie Pops with fondant covering them. The sign on top is a chocolate transfer.

Thanks for looking!

The Once-ler Wagon from Dr. Seuss' Lorax. Cake is 3 layers, each 6" X 12", stacked, filled, carved and covered in fondant. Detail characters and board covering are fondant. I really enjoyed this one and didn't stress too much with it. It was for a baby shower. TFL.

Made this cake as a thank you to the staff at my daughter's school at the end of the year. I had been wanting to make a Dr. Seuss cake for a long time - so I took this opportunity. All buttercream with chocolate transfer characters.

The Cat in the Hat celebrated his 50th birthday at the same time as a friend who is a Dr. Seuss fan. This cake celebrated both birthdays. Thanks to ShirleyW for inspiration and instruction. The cake was chocolate with chocolate meringue buttercream. Decorations (except the "50' candles) are all gumpaste and fondant.

I made this cake for a friend who decorated her nursery with Dr. Seuss and wanted her shower the same. The picture is a bit difficult to make out because it was at a church kitchen and the lighting was horrible. It is "Thing 1&2" sitting on top of "Yertle the Turtle" who is sleeping on a pillow with his teddy bear. Next down is a book cake "The Foot Book" which is sitting on top of a 10" hexagon with a clotheline scene including "Cat in the Hat" hats and "Lorax" trees. This one was lots of fun to make!

This was made for my first "paying" client. I was very happy with it other than a small fondant issue. The cat in the hat is made of sculpted rice krispy treats
covered in fondant. This has been one of my favorites so far.

All characters were hand made from fondant/gumpaste mixture except the fish which was molded from RCT and then covered with fondant "scales". Cakes were stacked over an internal dowel.

Whoville gingerbread houses for a local contest (prize $1000!--wish me luck!) The buildings are gingerbread, sides covered with gumpaste. Lots of RI ! Trix, candy canes (reshaped!), fruit loops straws, nerds, etc etc etc!! Lots of fun, but should have started it three weeks earlier! Wanted to make a grinch and max but didn't have time.

This was my first time trying a 2-tiered cake and trying to get crazy with the colors and patterns. I think it turned out ok, but next time could be better... Decorated mainly with fondant, some buttercream.

All BC. Made for a Kindergarten's class party for Dr. Seuss' birthday organized by a lady finishing up her speech pathology masters program (part of a final project). I copied this idea from a couple of different cakes on CC so thanks to whomever that was!!!

This cake was made for a Read Across America celebration at my son's school. The top layers were the hat for the cat in the hat. The bottom layers had many of the Dr. Seuss book titles printed along with "sound" words. The idea was good but the cake did not travel well so this could be considered a caketastrophe as well. Vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry cake with buttercream icing.

A tribute to Dr. Seuss for the school. The characters were cut from gumpaste and free-hand painted. The fish and the candle are sculpted using gumpaste. The kite is suspended on a black wire that wraps around all the tiers. There are stacks of miniture books under the middle tier and the polka-dot dress is on the side of the 'cake', but they are not seen to well in this photo. The hat and the cake have red and white striped cake inside, and the box has a red and white polka-dot cake inside. I had tremendous fun designing this cake!

I had to make 2 of these cakes. I started them at 12:00 and had to have them completely finished and delivered by 5:00 that same day. That includes baking time and cooling in the freezer. I don't know how I did it. I am not entirely happy with them but at least I had something for the Seussabration at my son's school. lol Rule of thumb: no matter what, make sure you have enough time! :)

I made this cake for a four year old boy's birthday party. His favorite book is The Lorax, by Dr. Seuss and wanted a cake with Truffula Trees and Brown Bar-ba-loots. He loved it!

(The cake is covered in fondant with gumpaste accents.)
