I looked at all the flip flop cakes for this one!! Got some great help with my shells from a post by shipleyC and anoldhippy, Thanks! Each flip flop is cut from a 9x13, one white, one choc, with BC, MMF flowers, and straps. There is a texture in them but it is hard to see on the picture. Shells are WC and sand is crushed graham crackers. Thought they were a little plain but did them to match an invite! Customer was very happy and hopefully her 6 yr old DD will be too!

Beach ball, flip flops, and two beach pails all covered in fondant. I cooked the buckets on flower pots to get the shape and cut the flip flops out of a 6'" square. The sand is natural sugar.

I made this as a gift for my neice Shelby for graduation. Unfortunately three hours before delivery the wired gumpaste plane and banner that said 'congratulations shelby' hit the floor and busted...no time to make another. The theme is that she has come from graduation and made a b-line to her favorite place-the beach. Her shoes, robe, cap and tassle, etc have been tossed and she's climbed up on the giant cap for some much deserved relaxation. Feel free to comment. thanks:)

I made this cake for my sister who is retiring and planning to move to a warmer climate. The cake is frosted in buttercream. It also has chocolate shells and crushed vanilla wafers and piping gel for sand. The turtle in the background is Wilton fondant and gumpaste. My first try at molding something.

I made this cake for a last day of school party at my school. The sky is made with sky blue MM fondant. There is a trick I used to get that color swirl. When you knead the coloring in, do not knead it completely. The sun is made with yellow colored buttercream. The sand is made by laying more buttercream over the layer that is used to stick the MMF and sprinkling cinnamon sugar. Enjoy!

Made this for my daughter's 4th birthday. The flip flops are her show size, and she absolutely loves the beach. 11x15 yellow w/choc bc. Flip flops are cake covered in fondant. Fondant rocks, flowers, sandal straps, "boards" border, and hand molded sand dollar. I loved making this cake -- labor of love! Didn't intend to make the "fence-like" border, but thought it was great once I got started on it and really liked the final outcome.

The palm tree is MMF (didn't look like I thought it would) with a dowel holding it up. Beach towel and surfboard MMF. Flowers are MMF with super sparkle (love sparkles!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)Fun cake to make.

my first sand castle. the customer wanted it to be laying down instead of really 3 D because it was for a family trip to the beach and they had a ways to drive. So this is what came out. Thanks to Doug for the sand mix recipe. The cake is key lime, carved to shape, covered with bc and then with "sand", Seashells are candy melts. I wanted to add a fondant pail and shovel, but it would have cost more than she wanted to spend - oh well, lol.

I made this for our annual Labor Day trip. It's a recreation of a place we go each year. Yellow cake - BC/fondant. I used pretzel rods and waffle cones for the trees (fill the inside of the cones with icing so they'll stay in place).
