This is a chocolate fudge cake with all buttercream icing. The anchors and life preservers went all the way around the sides of the cakeconnected with a thin rope of icing.

I had grand plans for this cake, which I made for my dh's birthday. Unfortunately, it did not turn out anywhere near what I had in my mind. I just plain ol' didn't plan well and ran out of time. Oh well, he loved it anyway! bc with fondant sail.

This is a white cake with Strawberry and White Chocolate Filling. The decorations on the cake match the nursery decorations of the mom to be. I used tips 1, 2, and 3 to make all the decorations. I used a medium star tip to make the border around the bottom.

This is a 10" round single layer cake for a small family party. The Aunt, who ordered this cake, only said that birthday girl loved to go to the lake and was a BIG University of Texas fan. I finally came up with this concept after much consideration. The entire top of the cake is airbrushed to look like a lake scene. If you look closely, the sailboat has a UT Longhorn with the word "TEXAS" below it. The writing on the sail was very difficult for me, as I hate working with such a small tip.

No-fail sugar cookies and Antonia's icing. Made these cookies for the July cookie theme (check out the Cookie Forum for some GREAT cookie ideas). Used two cookie cutters to create the sailboat/sun scene. Thanks for looking

I made this cake following a Martha Stewart recipe for my little boy's first birthday party. It didn't come out exactly as I had hoped, but I'm happier with it now that the party is over! It's a chocolate cake with buttercream frosting and sugar cookie fish.

I made these to go with a sailboat cake for my little boy's first birthday. They're made of both yellow and chocolate cake with buttercream frosting and sails made from melted white chocolate and pretzel sticks.

This was my son's first birthday cake. It is a butter cream box cake and cream cheese icing. This was my first attempt at making a cake and I was very pleased with it. He got to have this cake all to himself while everyone else ate the cake with the sailboat that matches.

This cake is the same as the smaller one that goes with it. The cake is a butter cream boxed cake with creamcheese icing. Also for my son's first birthday this larger cake was served to our guests. Considering I have never done this kind of thing I was very pleased with how both of them turned out.

Grandpa loves to sail and my mom asked me to make a cake with a sailboat...wasn't too sure where I was going with it when I started! After the top layer split in half I had to repair with BC!! I need to make sure I get the slice with the extra BC!! LOL!

Thanks to Sharon for your help on the boats! I like your design much better, but I was happy with how this turned out. The boats are fondant, flags/fish in gumpaste. Iced in buttercream. This was SO fun, although time-consuming because it was also a lot of trial and error.

I tried tracing a picture with piping gel on parchment paper. I wasn't thrilled that it "gooed" when I pressed it onto the cake. I don't think I'll use the piping gel again in this manner. Next time I'll just try drawing my figure/character with a toothpick then filling it in.

Idea totally replicated from Sharon's Sugar Shack (she's amazing)! My client loved her cake, and wanted the same one, but "bigger". 9" and 6" round white w/ fondant. Fondant boats and sails.

This is the sailboat cake I did for a 4oth bday. I mucked up on the words - should have done it in cursive as cream frosting was too soft for print. Client didnt complain - or maybe becoz she didnt take a close look...yet..... Oh well.. I know better next time. i think I went overboard (no pun intended) on the sea as well.. too many white bits.

First off all I want to thank all of the great cake artists on this site from whom I copied alot of this design. The flags around the bottom of the first tier are the marine alphabet flags. They spell out "C-O-N-G-R-A-T-S". Either I'm just slow or it felt like it took forever for me to finish this cake.

The Christian school wanted an inspirational cookie bouquet for their silent auction. The lighthouses are 6 inch cookies, so it's the biggest bouquet I've ever done. This picture was taken before I tissue papered and bagged everything, so the stems look naked -- sorry.

This is a cake I made for my family bday party. It is all buttercream except for the piping gel I colored for the sky, water, and sun. The sand is brown sugar.

This is a white chocolate raspberry french vanilla cake, filled with white chocolate raspberry mousse, and iced with white chocolate raspberry buttercream. Whew... it was a delicious combination! All accents are made with mmg/gumpaste mix.

6" square cake. Fondant decorations on buttercream frosting. OK...what's the trick to the rope? I had a real hard time making it and still is not perfect.
