This cake was a true labour of love. It was for my eldest daughter's first birthday and I wanted to capture all the whimsy and fancifulness of childhood. It was decorated with rose and purple fondant. The bottom layer was chocolate with caramel filling and the top was white cake with toffee cream filling.

This cake is flying to Puerto Rico today to celebrate my uncle's wedding anniversary tomorrow. The filling is my usual favorite; Almond scented cake with Amaretto Espresso filling. Made a 4, 6 & 8" all covered in fondant. Red gumpaste roses. Used beads bought at a craftstore for the monogram...Much easier than I thought!

This cake is for a friend of ours who loves ladybugs. This is a surprise for her birthday and I wanted something very simple.

4" and 6" stacked (no dowels so we'll see how it works!). French vanilla cake and vanilla buttercream. Ladybugs, ribbon roses and leaves are fondant. Thanks for looking!!

I made this for the Red Hat Society in my area. Their main colors are red and purple so I wanted to incorporate both. The base cake is vanilla with pastry cream and strawberries. The dome is chocolate cake with whipped cream. Both are covered in fondant. The roses are fondant as well as the leaves and luster dusted.

This is my Course III Cake (design inspired from this web site). The roses are fondant -- please let me know if they look realistic. It took me a long time to make them. Overall I was pleased with how it turned out.

The photographer was crooked, not the cake! Wanted something less formal to give as a gift the next day, but also wanted to use up my roses. Would have preferred to do pink and purple roses in slightly darker shade of cake covering, but not enough time for this purpose. Thanks for looking and sharing comments/critique.

Trying to use choco fondant to mold roses. Not going to great. Can't figure out how to get them to keep their shape in order to dry. They keep drooping. Also, I don't really know what I am doing, just kind of playing around. Can someone give me some pointers?

Choc. cake with choc filling covered in buttercream then fondant with white and gold ribbon. Roses and leaves are fondant. Brought it over to the hall in parts and stacked and piped the border there. It was a big hit! Very proud of my first one!

My wedding cake from the final Wilton class. I can see lots of flaws in the fondant, but I think my flowers are okay.

This is a sweet sixteen cake for my friend's daughter. She wanted me to copy a cake she found on CakeCentral. So this is my attempt to copy it, with the addition of some roses. My friend and her daughter really liked the cake. What a week though! It was so humid out today that the frosting just wilted on the cake, as you can see in the photo. Plenty of lessons learned with this cake! Yellow pound cake with strawberry BC. BC roses. Bow is 50/50 fondant and gumpaste. Super pearl lustre dust for shine.

Found the direction for this one hard as is it for a man, so I didn't want to make it look too girly, but his wife insisted on a heart surrounded in roses! 9in vanilla butter cake filled with vanilla buttercream. Covered with fondant and decorated with fondant roses - everything handmade from scratch! Leaves, border, scrolls & writing are royal icing. I hope the wife like this - she's been a bit of a difficult customer already!

This is the final cake I made for my Wilton course lll! I loved working on it, even though making all those fondant roses was a very time-consuming process! I gave it to my grandparents, to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary. :) Thanks for looking! GBY

My daughter of four has taken such an interst in my cakes and always wants to help so she sat down yesterday with some fondant colored it and made these rose buds all by herself. SHe announced she was done and this is what she came up with. I am quite proud of her and she would love to hear your comments. She is doing a cake this week to put them on so I hope to post that soon.

Whew!! I'm done! Yea! This cake is done in ivory MMF flavored with vanilla caramel. I used fondant w/gumtex to make the roses. I coated them with silver luster dust, very lightly to give them a shimmery look. I used a heart 6 inch shaped cake pan, doubled for the top and a 10x3 inch on the bottom, made from white cake mix. I also used a diamond shaped impression mat on the round and a lined impression mat for the heart, first time to use those. This cake was definitely a learning experience for me.

Lemon cake filled with raspberry preserves and lemon curd covered in buttercream dream and Satin Ice with gumpste flowers. Lots of firsts on this one-Satin Ice, impression mat, RI letters. Anyone have tips on how to use an impression mat? I found it difficult to apply enough pressure and line it up correctly.

I rolled the fondant a little thin. Especially for a chocolate cake, but I really like how my fondant roses and babysbreath turned out. I had a GREAT teacher!

My first cake of large size. I did this for my grandparent's 50th wedding anniversary. The tiers are 6, 8, 10, and 14" with the the 8 and 14 being single layers and the 6 and 10 being double. My first time using luster dust, which was really fun! The dots were supposed to be dragees but the ones I ordered looked far too yellow next to the scrolls, so I painted royal dots with luster dust. I was really happy with the outcome and my grandparents loved it!
