I made the Wilton castle cake for my BFF's daughters 3rd birthday party. I read as many reviews / accounts of making this cake as possible, as really didn't want anything collapsing on the way to the party! Turrets were covered with fondant, dampened the next day and patted with sparkling sugar, the flowers (400 of them!) were fondant with sugar pearl centres, and the leaves and beading were all piped in buttercream. The cake itself was vanilla HD sponge, and filled with vanilla buttercream and raspberry jam (top tier dowelled for support). The most important thing I read was about people saying the towers fall over. I got a friends husband to drill holes in the bottom of the turrents and Candy Melt'ed in 7mm dowels. I also attached the towers that sat directly on the board with Candy Melts, on the base and between the tower and cake. The thing did not budge, even with a trip on my lap, uphill, in a builders van!

Enjoyed it thoroughly - it was my first experience of any kind of piping, so was pleased with how it turned out. Was very time consuming though - I spread out the prep work, but it probably took about 12 hours in total!

The invitation's gear and industrial sketches inspired this industrial romantic design. Vintage ruffle flowers are set upon silver gears and cascade down the cake from blush to dove grey to lavender. Cake is 10", 8",8", 5"short and finished in ivory buttercream with pearl spray finish.

Thank you, thank you to aimee_jane for her beautiful cake for inspiration! This one was such fun to make - alternating layers of vanilla and lemon cake with a strawberry/raspberry filling and MMF decor.

today I was in the mood for some experimenting. Yesterday I made the blue ruffled cake and today I made 2 more cakes. I grabbed some accesories from my living room and started to stack the cakes in different ways.
Check my posts for the possibilites.

I used real accesories because I love it when people can keep something from their cake, and second? I?m so very bad in sculpting, haha.

I made these flower cupcakes with my 2 teenagers daughters for a friend of mine. My friend has an intelorance to gluten so these chocolate and yellow cupcakes are gluten-free. I used for the first time Betty Crocker mix and it is very good. Not the same texture as an usual cake but with the rapsberry jam filling and the butterapple filling topped with real buttercream, they were delicious. The flowers and bows were made with love in fondant.
