this cake was for a little boy who wants to design roller coasters when he grows up. The hills are hard candy (lollipop candy) that I shaped with molds. The tracks are royal icing. The cake is chocolate, chocolate fudge - yum!

OK, so I finally did it!! I made a 3D cake from scratch. No pans or anything!! It's a pound cake with cream cheese and pecan filling and MMF icing and accents. I have been wanting to do a roller coaster cake for a little while and, although it's not perfect I'm glad I gave it a go!!

I was inspired by a cake on Duff Goldman's website for Charmed City
Cakes. For a little girls skate party. Choc. cake, choc. buttercream. Accents are fondant and royal-icing. The floorboard is a drum covered
in fondant and painted with gel/vodka mixture. Wheels are Rice Krispie
covered in fondant. Very fun to try.

This is my first attempt at using fondant for something other than a bow. It did break a bit, but I was able to hold it up with the sign, which I made with paper/stamps. The cake is just a 10" round with buttercream.

This cake was inspired by a cc member. The birthday boy had seen the picture when he and his mom were looking at cakes and he decided he wanted this type of cake for his skating party. 12" white cake with foundant accents.

This is a 1/2 sheet yellow cake with french vanilla buttercream....the Skate is a FBCT, and I ran out of time for details and resorted to sprinkles...but I still think it turned out pretty well.

A 3D roller skate for a girl's roller skating party. She was extatic over this. I want to thank bellejoey for the advice on how to do this. It was a great challenge, expecially since I had to deliver it an hour and a half away. That was an interesting and stressful drive. All buttercream with fondant wheels and accents.

Here is a sculpted Roller Skate cake. This was really easy except for the wheels. I just hate to frost the small cakes. Ugh! I printed a clipart roller skate,as large as I could, then cut out. Then I placed on large piece of paper and cut out larger still. When i put in on the 9x13 I just cut around the template. the cake served about 25

This cake was made for an 11 year olds skating party. WASC covered in MMF. Not 100% pleased with how it came out but the girl loved it and would not let anyone cut it. So I am happy about that. There are things I learned while doing this cake, if I had to do it again I would do some things different. Thanx bellejoey for your help with this one.

6" x 2" and half of the sports ball pan covered with Pettinice fondant. Hat brim is gumpaste. I used an embossed roller for the imprints. (front view shows this a bit better) Had trouble with bow - ChocoPan fondant. Thanks for looking!

I made this cake for my dad who owns a painting business. The cake is chocolate with raspberry filling, covered with MMF & hand painted. The paint brush is sugarpaste as is the roller handle. The roller part is rice crispies covered with MMF. To paint the items I used Americolor & Luster dust mixed with vanilla vodka.

This is for a customer's 7 year old daughter's birthday. The party's theme is roller skating. I asked what the little girl's favorite colors were and what she looked like. From there, I used her favorite colors of pink and purple and made a fondant figure of the little girl. This was my first time using the diamond impression mat and making ribbon roses. The cakes are iced in BC, with fondant ribbons, stripes, roller skates and the little girl's name. I've been dying to do a girly cake!
