This is for my son's 7th birthday. R2 still needs 2 cherry halves on his head, but I won't put them on until the day of the party.

First time doing a 3D was tons of fun! Thanks to SquirrellyCakes for all of her advice...I couldn't have done this cake otherwise. Three 6x3 round Chocolate Mud cakes (thanks boonenati & auzzi) with WBH Cookies & Cream filling. BC icing and MMF accent decorations. My DS loved it!

This was for my son's 5th birthday and was a real crowd pleaser. The body is cut out from a 13x9 cake and the head was formed from the scraps. I made 1/2 batches of red, white and blue MMF. The yellow accents I colored from the white MMF. I stuck Autobot rings on the arms rather than trace the insignas. No icing (except a crumb coat), only MMF on the entire cake.

Well, this is the finished cake. My son didn't want anyone to cut into the monkey's head (yellow cake), so I sat it on top of a round cake with the logo around the side. The monkey is covered in MMF. The head is actually cake. The body is a paper towel tube covered in MMF. Learned quite a few lessons here! Any suggestions would be appreciated.

This cake was designed by the birthday boy, who was very specific about what he wanted. The robots are his plastic toys and the chocolate cake and icing was made red with the spray stuff and red sprinkles. The nuts and bolts are candy that the mother found at a party store.

This robot design was based on a toy that my son has. I used an old Wilton pan for it... I think it was called a Spaceman pan.

2 Strawberry box mix cakes made in two 6 inch rounds, a glass bowl with 6 inch diameter, and a 9 inch square pan. Wooden dowels (my son wanted to use the whole bag of dowels while I turned my back to tend to a younger brother... finally stopped him on the third!) through the center to stabilize. Arms were cut out of the square cake and "pinned" in with bamboo skewers. Marshmallow fondant over all. I used a Skittle for his red "eye."

Ted fell into the moon crater (from cbc Canada TV series ‘Lunar Jim’ – made this sugarcraft for my son's 5th birthday this week (8+ hours work)

In one of the ‘Lunar Jim’ episodes, Ted the robot fell into a crater. So, I used this as the main theme of this sugar craft. Ted lies in the moon crater, Jim (in blue space suit) and Ripple (the girl in red) laughed. Eco (in green) and Rover (the robot dog) tried pulling him out of the crater.

The space helmets were actually the lids from kid’s

This was my first cake for a non-family member. The bottom cake is a plain vanilla sheet cake sprayed with blue and dusted with glitter. For R2D2, I used a tombstone-shaped "Over the Hill" cake pan. Then I outlined the details for R2D2 with black gel. All buttercream frosting...I smoothed the frosting on R2's head, and painted it with silver and moonstone luster dust. I used a picture of R2D2 as a reference, since the details on most of the cake instructions aren't as accurate. And kids will notice :)

R2D2 bids Johan 7 years happy birthday in swedish. I tried to reassemble the text in the beginning of all the Star Wars movies with the space in the background... Needed more text but Johan hasn´t learned to read so well yet....

This is a cupcake cake for my son to take to school tomorrow for his 7th birthday. The robot comes from a picture that he drew and I transfered to the top of the cake using a coursage pin and then outlined and colored with buttercream. This is my first cupcake cake.

I've seen a few of these on cc, most of them much better than mine. Three 6" rounds with half a sports ball top. Rice Crispy treat arms. I used three bamboo skewers to secure the cake and two shorter pieces for each arm. And he even delivered in one piece!

Chocolate cake base with SMBC. Torso & shoulders are Rice Krispie Treats. Everything covered in fondant with fondant accents and painted with luster dust. Head is made from two plastic wine glasses that have been crazy glued together. This was my first 3-D cake and there are things that I definitely would have done differently, but overall I'm really happy with it.

I felt this little guy needed more color around his head to pull the eye up to
his head area as a focal point,so I got back up outta bed last night and added the little yellow tabs on his ears and some black stripes at his toe area ..I was going to delete the other picture I posted in my gallery but someone had already saved it in thier favorites...
