This was my second effort at the Wilton car cake. I found that it was much easier this time around. Chocolate cake with buttercream.

No-fail sugar cookie recipe with royal icing. All cars were done freehand. This is what I did in place of the actual cookie cutter in the shape of the car.

This was for my son's 3rd bday (3 cars). I used 2 9" cakes, mini chocolate donuts for the ends of the track and gummi candy corn for the traffic cones.

I made this from a Wilton Yearbook. It took some work, but was a really fun cake. People keep asking how much I would charge for it, but I'm new to cake decorating. Any suggestions?

I did this for my father-inlaw who loves sprint cars. This was my first print. I got it done at a local store. I now know to line up my words better, still not to great at the whole writing thing, any tricks? I also learned not to put the cake in an airtight container after putting the print on, it made the color run on the print by morning, so when I took it to the party the white part of the paper was a pale blue.

Sport Cakes.com sells pans and edible images that look just like an actual race car driver's car - endorsements and everything! Just a warning though- it took a lot longer than I thought - the decals come with white borders and you have to cut them all off. I used an Xacto knife and it still took forever and wasn't perfect. It took like an hour to get it all done. But the results are worth it - it looks so real! I cut the bottom cake into an oval race track type cake. It was covered in MMF.

This is the boy cake for a set of 4 year old twins. It was the very first time I ever did this cake...it was fun. I added silver dust to the bumpers to make it look metallic. You can't see th elicense plate in this pic but I put the child's name on it. I also added other details like rear view mirrors and wipers in the front window. He loved it!

The inside is a chocolate and yellow checkerboard (or at least an "attempt" to do so). It is iced with Chocolate Buttercream. The flags, road, and winner's circle are all made from fondant.
