I made this for my SIL. She makes these purses by sewing together Kool-Aid pouches and topping them with a boa. Really cute...so I decided to try my hand at making one from cake for her birthday.

This cake was for a good friends sister that loves pink and makeup. It was chocolate cake with buttercream and fondant. The make-up was fondant with chocolate coins.

These cakes were for a 13th birthday party. All of the cakes are carved and then filled with chocolate ganache mousse. Each cake is covered in fondant and then has some fondant decorations. The N stands for the birthday girls name (Nicole). I made the base by hot glueing cardboard together so that the cakes can stand up and used black satin to cover the cardboard.

I made this for a friends daughter's birthday. Someone had given a picture of a similar cake to my friend and she asked if I could make one like it. It was a 2 layer 8" square cake filled w/buttercream and covered w/fondant. You can't tell from the picture but it was cut at an angle and tapered at the top. The birthday girl loved it!

9X13 chocolate cake cut and stacked, covered in fondant with hand painted design. Base cake is a 9X13 yellow cake iced in buttercream with gold dragee accents. The 'make-up' items are Wilton candles. My step-daughter LOVED this one!

The cake is just an 8" square cake that I cut in thirds, then stacked. Then I just shaped it by hand with a serrated knife. Iced in buttercream, then covered in mmf.

This is my first amature attempt at a 3D cake. I was inspired by all the other cakes I have viewed on this fantastic site! I "had" fondant handles but I broke one at the last minute & substituted licorice. I am still having problems with my buttercream getting white spots...any suggestions? Any comments would be appreciated as I am still a novice at this! :)

A lot of work went into this monster - 6 layer vanilla cake with strawberry Italian meringue buttercream filling. Fondant covering with stensil C's. The C's were made with magenta, fuscia, turquoise, tangerine and lime petal dust. All hot pink and camel "leather" accents were fondant, rings were gumpaste, beaded chain ware royal. Gold luster dust painted on chain and rings. Fondant covered board also had C's painted on. Gumpaste flowers on board (made those too!) Enjoy!

This was for a 40th b-day celebration. Her colors were lilac, cream, & silver. The gift box is white cake with strawberry filling and the purse is 3 layers of white cake with buttercream in between. Both are covered in fondant and accented with edible pearls. I colored the pearls, the fondant '40' & zipper with luster dust (this was the first time for me to work with the dusts and I must say it was very easy & I enjoyed it!). These cakes fed about 75 people.

The handle, lipstick, eye pencil, brushes, nailpolish bottle and brush are all gumpaste with petal dust. My many thanks to boween for her inspiration!!

This is my first time to make a purse cake! I had some "issues" with the handle and had to prop it up with florist wire. But the birthday girl was happy--that's all that mattered.

This cake is from Lindy Smith's Quick & Clever Party Cakes book. It fell apart when I tried to move the cake onto the fondant covered cake board. I won't make another cake with the inedible fancy dragees again although they did add a lot - Just had to try it once. This was for my sister's birthday. I learned a lot with this one!

I wish I could have found something better to paint the letters on. So I guess next time I'll buy cocoa butter. I have seen now people use it. But other than that it didn't turn out as bad as it could have for my first time. Next time I should have it down.
