I was VERY worried about this cake b/c the woman was extremely specific about what she wanted! She also specified she wanted it to seem like the animals were singing to the bday boy! I hope this is what she pictured!!! Fondant animals, notes, and streamers. Decorated sugar cookie animals on the sides. Music scale, notes and primary accents are royal icing. Cake is chocolate fudge with choc BC icing.
THANKS TO EVERYONE WHO HELPED ME WITH MAKING THESE FONDANT ANIMALS!!!!

I did this one yesterday morning (Sunday)...had a hard time trying to figure out what I was going to do. I was out of ideas but I did have my four colors made up and just decided to wing it. The plane was traced on by punching holes in the picture and placing it on the cake. I then dusted cocoa powder over the holes to get the outline to show up clearly. Love the bright colors but not the overall design. Turned out to be the best tasting cake I've made to date, though!

This was my first project with fondant and I had a blast. The bear is made out of fondant and then painted with frosting tint colors. The blanket and pillow are also made from fondant. It is a lemon cake with lemon cream cheese filling and BC frosting.

I did this cake for a friend's daughter's 1st birthday...this is the 1st 2 tier cake I've made...did buttercream icing and fondant for the dots. Had a bit of trouble with the fondant coloring bleeding onto the cake--I don't know if this is usually a probelem when it's hot and humid?? Maybe I need a new recipe? Had anyone else had this problem?
Anyways, it was a fun experiment...it's only my 2nd cake I've made for someone outside of family, and my first time with fondant, so I was happy with the results.

i made this cake before discovering Cake Central, but it was this cake that started my obsession and made me want to learn more. Looking at it now I don't love it as much as I did then, but if I hadn't made it I don't think i would be such a cake addict now. The flaws are obvious, but I sure had fun making it. :)

This cake was more challenging than it seems. I wanted it to look like a real quilt without taking a large amount of time, and, these intense colors are hard to mix and get them right. Cocagne is the baby's last name.

I made this for a lady that runs a daycare for pre k children. I tried to draw and color the images as a child would. Actually, I still draw that way myself :) I made some of the letters backwards as a child would.

This cake was made to go along with an Elmo themed party. The mother had an elmo cake topper to go on it. This was inspired by another Elmo cake I saw on CC.

This is my first tiered cakeand first cake over 9 in. in size. I'm not really happy at all with how it turned out, but I had so many problems with baking it that I ended up being really rushed and tired at the end. Oh well, live and learn I guess.
P.S.- Date on camera is wrong this is from 2/25/2007

Made for a two year old's Birthday party, chocolate with BC frosting and fondant accents. The best thing about these, were the looks on all the preschoolers faces when they saw them come throught the door! Ahhh... gotta love 'em - both cupcakes and kids!

customer wanted clown cake design to be like the candle tiered cake I had done.
I found the clown separator plates on ebay. the clown on top is a cupcake made in the wilton silicone feet cupcake thingies. Then I made the arms, head and hair out of fondant. She wanted it to be primary colors with the borders in primary colors as well.

I have to say this is one of my favorites I've done so far, for many reasons. First off, my husband helped with a lot of this. He helped color the fondant and cut out shapes. He made the buttons and the wood posts. Second, of all I love the colors of this cake. They are just so vibrant (which is due to my husband's wonderful kneading abilities). Last of all, it was fun to make!
This is my better butterscotch cake with Satin Ice Fondant for all the decorations. I hope you enjoy!

All B/C icing. I made the circles so round by doing a method similar to a FBCT (where the back is the front). I made them one at a time. When the B/C was partially frozen I cut it with a 4" circle cutter. Then I refroze the circle. Once completely frozen I placed them right-side-up on the cake. For the face, I just built up the icing on parchment paper and smoothed it with a sponge paint roller, then froze it.

Buttercream (ok, ok, a can of store-bought frosting) with Fondant accents. This was my first time using fondant, and I like the way it turned out. I just wish I had smoothed out the BC some more. White Sour cream almond cake recipe from this site, it was SO good!
