Fast and very easy cake made from the Wilton Flower Pot pan. The idea was taken from the Wilton Yearbook 2002. I have made several of these for my daughters' school's Ice Cream Social.

I'm not real happy with this but practice makes perfect, right? :) It's a yellow cake with buttercream filling. The pot and the stems are buttercream. The flowers are white chocolate with lavender pipling.

So, here it is! My first flower pot. The pot is all chocolate cake, the calla lillies are gumpaste, dirt is oreo crumbs, the rocks are made of fondant and the butterfly is painted with gel colours on rice paper (I'm not trhilled about the butterfly but not bad to be my first). Thanks to the people on this website for all your help, specially Carol and weefot.

I made this cake for my daughter's 2nd birthday!! She loves flowers, it was my first time making gumpaste flowers, it was tons of fun. The cake is just a pound cake with chocolate buttercream frosting. I used crushed oreos for the dirt and fondant for the outside of the flower pot. The butterfly is not edible though, just a store bought silk butterfly.

I made this for a friend's birthday....basically just for the heck of it. It was a learning experience, but I think it turned out nice! Sports ball pan, iced in buttercream, royal flowers.

This was my moms birthday cake. It is chocolate cake with chocolate whipped cream filling with raspberry buttercream icing. Its my first sculpted cake and the fondant was too thick so it buckled a little bit. It tasted pretty good though

This was for a Pooh baby shower, but the hostess gave no more details for the cake. So I came up with this idea using the oval cake pan shaped into a hunny pot.

This cake was both a challenge and a joy! The 'pot' was made from a 6X3 and 8X3 rounds that were stacked and then carved to look like the pot, later covered in buttercream and fondant. The leaves are fondant streaked with holly green lustre dust and the flowers are bought gumpaste flowers that I coloured. Shovel and trowel hand made from fondant, base is covered in fondant and I used a cobblestone impression mat and later did a 'wash' with diluted black colour.

I did two of these for friends. The flowers and flower pot are made of mmf, the cake is chocolate with chocolate buttercream, and the dirt is, of course, oreos.

The terra cotta pot is yellow cake with MMF. I torted it twice and put boards and dowels to make serving easier. What a pain!!!! The cupcake tree is choc cupcakes with BC. All tulips and leaves are MMF.
A special thanks to KHalstead for answering my questions on this project!!

This was a birthday cake for my mother-in-law. It was my first time making flowers out of fondant (fondant mixed with gumpaste powder). Unfortunately, the pot started to crack at the bottom - I think the cake inside was lopsided and it was leaning forward. oops! Fortunately the cake was good - it was 4 layers of chocolate cake with cookies and cream filling. I got so rattled when it started to break, I forgot to write Happy Birthday! Any advice for working with fondant successfully?

Chocolate cakes baked in 4" clay flower pots, with chocolate icing and crushed up chocolate Teddy Grahams for the "dirt". I used 3 different sizes of daisy cutters with neon orange, pink and yellow fondant and glued them to their sticks using buttercream icing. These were for teacher gifts for the end of the school year.

I made these Cupcake flower pots for my youngest kidlets class for the end of year, going into Kindergarten! 2 oreos wrapped up in plastic wrap inside the pot, cupcake on top, frosted with chocolate frosting, covered in chopped up oreos. 2 gummy worms sticking out and an oreo as the flower. :) I also made up bags of soil and printed some copies of seed packets (taped around edges) and put seeds in the little packets so when they are all done eating their goodies they can plant their own little flower to watch it grow! Fun stuff!

This cake was copied out of a Wilton Yearbook. They no longer sell the original candles but I found some similar ones at a party store. The accents are made from half gumpaste half mmf. The hat and bear are hand molded mmf/gumpaste. Royal icing drop flowers add a border. I had issues with the chairs and table standing up straight. I also think I would have done a quilted table cloth if I could.
