I made this cake for my daughter's birthday pool party. The entire cake is edible; the people in the pool were figure piped, blue gel was added over the blue buttercream "water" to give a more realistic appearance. Beach balls are large gumballs. The woman in the blue bathing suit is floating in a buttercream "inner tube".

My grandson's birthday cake. Almost a disaster cake as the gumpaste/fondant decorations became messed up. I placed this set on top of it instead.

I made this cake for my friend's daughter. The "tile" around the pool was made with chiclets. After having to pick all of thm off to enjoy the cake, I decided next time they'll be fondant. The dolls are from the Poly Pocket beach set. The raft and life preserver were made with buttercream icing. They "water" was made using colored piping gel.

My husband's cousin is on the high school swim team. For their last meet they are having a celebration and requested a cake somewhat like the one I did for the water polo team earlier this year. Although, naturally, things didn't go quite as planned, I am pretty happy with the way things turned out.

Just a practice cake, first try with the Wilton sports ball pan. DH wanted to make a cake together, so he helped me bake this one and make the icing, though I got to do the decorating;)

I made this cake for my dad's birthday...he had just gotten a new pool table, that is what inspried the design. He was so proud of the cake he would not let anyone cut it. He finally cut it a week later. Thank God it still tasted good.

Blue sugar cookie dough glued together with royal icing (and strengthened with melted chocolate on one side of each cookie) then filled with cornflakes mixed with marshmallow creme (dyed blue), complete with a cookie swimmer! For my brother-in-law's birthday and a horrible representation of the image of what it would look like in my mind! I am tempted to try again and do better.

This was a cake I collaborated on with my good friend. She modeled the kids in the floats and I did the rest. Lots of fun and was a big hit. 11"x15" yellow cake with 8" chocolate swimming pool. kids and towels were mmf, bc, purchased sugar flowers, chiclets for the tiles surrounding the pool.

This was a cake I did for pool party. Something with a beach ball is all she told me and this is what I came up with. I used upside down ice cream cones for the "towers" on the sand castle, graham cracker crumbs for the "sand" and Wilton candy melts for the sea shells. It turned out pretty cute... the birthday boy loved it!

These are cupcakes I made for my son's preschool class the last day of school. I got the idea from bettycrocker.com and made a few modifications. I used fruit rollups for the "floats", gummi lifesavers and Teddy Grahms dotted with black gel (for sunglasses). I used a large star tip for the "waves". If the kids had been older, I would have finished off with small drink umbrellas. Next time, I'll use Gummi Bears, the Teddy Grahms crumbled to the touch after being stored in an airtight container overnight.

This is my version of the WomenÂ’s Day magazine cover for June 2006. My client and her twin daughters were thrilled with the cake. I was please with this finished producted, but I hated every moment of creating it! Putting eyes and noses on teddy grahams is not my idea of Art. Oh well, ask what kind of cake before agreeing to do a cake is my lesson here. Your critique is greatly appreciated!

I made this pool table cake for my husband & my dad on Father's Day last year. They were really surprised because they were outside working together & when they came in, I had created this cake! I thought of decorating it this way since they both like to play pool.

This cake was so much fun, and quite easy. My buttercream kids are a little "rough" but I still think they're cute. Mom said her girl loved it, and it got me two other orders, so I guess they aren't too bad :) Everything is edible except the trees, umbrellas and beach balls. Half chocolate/half yellow/buttercream icing.

This is a chocolate cake that has a "hill" (also chocolate cake) and a hot tub (made of vanilla cake). The people/dog are made of fondant and the hot tub water is piping gel and the bubbles are meringue. I airbrushed the cake too.
