These Cakes are made with regular store bought frosting. I tried to make it with mmf , but failed at it. So I had to do with what I had. This is my second cake I have made. I hope to get better within time.

A friend wanted this for her DJ boyfriend, and this was definitely a first for me! I used fondant for all of the decorations, and just made two 8" rounds, and placed them side by side. For the microphone, I used Rice Krispie treats, and then covered it with fondant, and painted it with Luster Dust. She wanted a crab around because he sometimes gets "crabby"...

Made this for my twin nieces' birthday. It was supposed to be fondant covered, but was way to big for a beginner like me to figure out how to move the fondant to the cake. So, I buttercreamed it. Also, was supposed to have a handle at the top, but I guess overnight wasn't long enough for the fondant to dry hard. Can something be mixed in fondant to help it dry faster/ harder?

I made this sheet cake for my friends oldest son 10th. He wanted the Jets having been born in Winnipeg, & the Ducks. I made the teams out of chocolate. They looked really cool & I made an extra player with the boys's features. The only problem it was hot a the center where the party was and the Chocolate Figures were too heavy! Next time I will make Ice in sugar cookie. But it turned out good &they loved it. Each kid got a choc. player. I made the nets out of choc on a make shift mold of 2 cones, & foil.

My friend is trying out for the US Woman's Hockey Team so I made this cake for her. I was pretty happy as this was my first attempt at a figure of a person. And she has red curly hair, so it really resembles her! I love the Melvira method but still trying to figure out how to get all the lumps out and the corners nice and sharp. Any suggestions?

I made this cake in cake class. Plastic helmets and football. Everything else was BC. The arms could DEFINITELY have been smoother. I think my BC wasn't the right consistancy. Any suggestions on how to make it pipe out smoother, rather than smoothing it after it crusts?

Carved cake, covered in fondant, gloves, stick and sheild on the helmet are not edible. The copper pipe center support was a "Doug Design" - thank you very much Doug! Edible images on the shirt, rice krispie arms. I do want to make it one more time someday now that I know what I'm doing (well, sort of!) Party was Saturday, as of Thursday night I thought I was going to have to scrap the whole thing and do something else. But it worked out, kids loved it!

This is a 9 inch - 1 layer white almond cake sliced and torted with a raspberry mouse.
I used a small ball for the b-ball and piped the little guy all done in BC except for the brown is chocolate. This is for our Son's 1st t-ball meeting with his buddies. (ok this cake is really for the adults). I also made individual cupcakes for the boys to have with their names!

I did this cake for a co-worker's friend. It was her 40th b-day and her friends always sang that song to her. The cake was done in buttercream. The Woman was my first attempt using color flow ( a challenge for me to work with) the arm is molded from chocolate and wafer cookies. This was really fun to create.

A sheet cake with a 8" round on top. The party theme was Freddy's Memories. One of those were record players and how cool when they came out with the ones that would play record after record! This is the reason for the heigth on the round cakes. I used a comb to distinguish the layers on the records. Airbrushed on the colors and voila.

Grooms cake that a customer ordered...the logo is the groom's company and then she wanted the headphones. I thought chocolate donuts made easy earpieces, lightweight too.

I did this cake up fast for a friend, so I didn't take the time to smooth or crumb coat like I should have. Was running out of time. I wanted to do something different with the baseball theme, so I have him bursting out of the ball. Devil's food cake with bavarian cream, BC icing and fondant was used.

Made this cake for my bosses daughter who is an avid soccer player. Again first attempt at the girl and soccer ball. I tried to make the girl look like her and her uniform. Had fun making it, but It was so hot on Thursday when I made it, the BC never crusted and her legs were falling off. It was 35 degrees Celcius. So there are flaws due to the heat, my BC looked like it was melting. BC with fondant accents.

This was a birthday cake for a friend's husband who is an "audiophile" with an extensive collection of records. I used rolled fondant to cover the turntable and made all of the accents including the arm out of gumpaste.
