The clock was to symbolize "Remembering the Past." The Palm Pilot was to symbolize "Planning for the Future." Both were almond cake layered with chocolate buttercream and covered with marzipan and then rolled fondant. Clock numbers were molded granulated sugar.

My best friend decided that she just HAD to have a waterfall with REAL WATER on her cake. I said no at first of course, but after a professional cake decorator told me it was impossible I was committed to do it! lol. The cake was passion fruit/guava/papaya with pineapple filling and coconut BC, hence the tropical decorations.

Made for a Hawaiian themed birthday. Buttercream frosted ocean and island with graham cracker sand on island. Royal icing flowers. Fondant palm leaves and bark layered on the tall tier poll. Teddy hula dancer made from mini bear pan. Hard to see but there is a monkey holding a banana at the base of the palm tree.

I made this for an 11 year old. I wanted the sides to look like a hawaiian shirt. She wanted 2 palm trees, a hammock and a girl in it that looked like her. Even though there isn't much detail to the "girl", she looks amazingly like the real girl.

2nd beach themed cake and much easier then the 1st. (Used fondant to make trees, flower, shells, etc.- very time consuming!). This was fun to do and the bride to be loved it. You can't tell in the pic but I used the edible glitter and the "sand" looked very real.

Done for a customer that bought the little dinosaur figurines. I am so happy with the way this turned out. It's a yellow cake with chocolate BC. Everything, but the dinosaurs, is edible. And you folks were right...Harry the Caveman wouldn't have looked right at all! Thanks for looking.

I really like how this came out. IMB with fondant flowers and chocolate shells. Flowers and shells covered with luster dust. Airburshed sky and palm leaves with icing jell water. Sand is crushed Golden Oreo cookies. The original cake was done by About the Cake.

Found little jelly fish at a confectionary wholesaler I visited. Then I found this wonderful website and am completely inspired by all of the like-minded people I have found here. So I made this cake yesterday.

I made this cake for a little girl who was turning 8 and had a Hawaiian Slumber Party Birthday and she wanted a Bratz cake. All the decorations are made with fondant and painted with thinned icing color. The doll was a bit big and hides the palm tree which was a pretzel rod covered in chocolate with fondant leaves. The 'water' gel actually was only around the top of the bottom layer, but ended up 'sliding down' in transit. I also used graham cracker crumbs for the sand. The girls loved it.

These seem to be pretty popular! 1/2 choc, 1/2 yellow cake w/BC. Little rocks are choc candies I found and flowers are silk. The couples e-vite had orchids and I had some left from the last beach cake I did.

I did this cake for one of my moms co-workers. She loves palm trees. It is made out of (4) 9 in rounds cut in half and stacked. and (2) 13 x 9 in pan stacked and cut to shape the trunk. The coconuts are mini chocolate donut holes. It was a lot of fun to make this. The only problem was that it weighed a ton!

One of my first fondant decoration cakes my sister and I did for a friend. We found that the gel slid way too much on the fondant, was only supposed to go on the top. The day ended up way to oversized for the cake but the little girl loved it! Chocolate covered pretzels, with cookie crumb sand, and all fondant decorations.

No Fail with Alices Cookie Icing, summer theme for meeting at church. Had never used Alices icing before, like the taste, need to let it sit a little for the outline. Likes to bleed.

I did this cake at work and it was done to match the invitation. It's hard to tell it in the picture, but the main icing color was a vibrant pinky-orange-red color. Rather unusual, but pretty. All piped in buttercream.

This couple was married in Mexico last week, but had their reception back in Vancouver this weekend. I boxed 200 of these cookies and sent them with her Toronto guests as their carry-on luggage on the plane ride there!

This was a 10" round bottom, with the "doll dress" cake on top, but I cut it down to a diameter of 8", and rounded-off the top. I put it on a board & off-set it, so part of it was off the back of the 10" cake, to give more room for "ocean & waves". This was a really fun cake, thanks for looking!

This was for my daughter's 10th birthday. She saw a cake I made before of a Palm Tree laying flat on the cake board & she said she would like a palm tree on the beach with a sunset.... and she LOVES dolphins! So, I have an old Wilton 3D Bunny pan - I cut-away at the ears sticking straight-up to form the palm. The dolphin was carved out of another old Wilton 3D pan - the "Loveable Animal", it looks kind of like Simba as a cub. Thanks for looking!

For a 6 year old who was having a beach/Hawaiian them birthday party. The mother wanted palm trees, but I don't have access to plastic palm trees here in Japan, so I tried to make one from a large pretzel stick and buttercream leaves. I also didn't realize that it is hard to pipe icing on vanilla wafer crumbs. They were pleased. Thanks to CC for the beach theme ideas.

Let's try this again, the other picture was sideways and forgot to mention who helped me with it. 12" square, 8" square with a 6" round hut. Flowers are silk, ladder was rope, hut roof is just manila folder shaped cone with fondant strips. Fondant strips were adhere with water to the cone. Trees are fondant, leaves are held with wire. Net and starfish for cake base decoration. Big hit at the party. This cake was inspired by a cake from Ginger08. Thanks Ginger for your wonderful instructions!
