I had a hard time with the palm trees b/c the palms are all made out of royal icing and they kept breaking on me. The rocks are fondat and the flowers are roayl icing. The rest is buttercream on vinilla cake with cream cheese in the middle. All in all I still liked the way this cake came out.

Half white, half chocolate, all buttercram except a few "lay-ons" per request of child. Palm tree is royal for leaves using tip 67, piped onto pretzel stick. Starfish and shells made from candy melts. Sand is crushed vanilla wafers. Cupcakes white and chocolate in colors to match cake w/ sprinkles of turtles and fish on them. Island is made from half sports ball pan. For niece's 9th birthday party all per her request.

This was for a 65th birthday. She absolutely loved it. I know the flip flops are not to scale but I meant it that way. I wanted it to be like a big centerpiece on top of the cake. Everything is edible except the flowers on the columns. The flip flops are cake covered in fondant. I had a little problem with that. I put them in the freezer and when they defrosted the fondant got all weird. Oh well, lesson learned. Overall, I'm really happy with the results.

I made this cake for my son's 7th birthday. Everything is edible. This is my first attempt at a hand made figure, and I am quite happy with how he turned out. The cake is a half sheet size, shells are fondant pressed into a candy mold, trees were made with a clay gun and leaves were made with a leaf cutter. Boats were hand cut, clay gun to add accents. Blue piping gel for the water look. Crushed butter cookies for the sand

Birthday cake for Snoopy-loving parrothead. Fondant flowers, palm leaves and figures. Palm trees are fondant covered pretzel rods. The pretzel of the third palm tree got too soft in the cake and broke ... this was my very first "fancy" cake decorating project.

I found this cake on, called Lavable Dinosaurs. I made it for my son's 1st birthday. The volcano is mini-wonder mold, iced with butter cream and topped with piping gel. The dinosaurs are color flow, and the palm trees are royal icing. The 6" is marble cake with Raspberry Filling, and the others are chocolate cake with raspberry filling.

this cake had it's issues --for dear friends' shower. 7-10-11 inch cakes. MMF decorations. Palm trees were challenging--only 1 1/2 made it:(. Thanks to cc inspiration esp bigcatz's beautiful tropical leaves.

Everything on the cake is edible...except the animals and baby. ;) Rocks are candy coated chocolate, water is blue tinted gel icing, palm trees are pretzel rods wraped in chocolate and topped with fondant leaves, cat tails are uncooked spaghetti dipped in royal icing. The baby rests on a rice paper lily pad.

This cake was requested for an anniversary. They wanted an edible monkey and elephant in a jungle type scene. So, everything is BC, except the sign is white chocolate and the tree is a Pepperidge Farm Pirouette cookie with fondant leaves. The water is piping gel and the rocks are candy rocks.

A small white cake infused with key lime juice and filled with key lime curd, frosted with key lime flavored buttercream. Fondant "water, " buttercream palm trees. The couple had 2 weddings (one in the US and one outside), thus the "2nd Third."

I got the idea for the base of this cake from Wilton's site but I changed it a touch to work with a Dora theme. The tree is all fondant (trunk is has a "base" of a pvc pipe. "Sandy" hill is ground almonds over white icing and royal icing flowers around the bottom and buttercream leaves.

Buttercream with MMF decorations. The tree kept falling off the side so I had to rig a little dowel and wire to hold it up. Also, my butterflies broke and the snake kept falling off. Kind of a nightmare.
