I made this cake for my friend's birthday, she was having a tropical themed party. She ordered this only 2 days ahead and I also had to deliver 50 cookies and another birthday cake the same day, so I made it simple. Sunset colors for a vanilla cake filled with vanilla buttercream and whipped cream, covered with MMF. MMF flowers and trees.

Buttercream with MMF decorations. The tree kept falling off the side so I had to rig a little dowel and wire to hold it up. Also, my butterflies broke and the snake kept falling off. Kind of a nightmare.

Decorated for our Luau themed Creative Memories get together. Iced in Buttercream Dream, tiny pretzel sticks for palm trees (very hard to put leaves on to!) and crushed graham crackers for sand. Thanks for the inspiration from all the Luau themes in the gallery!

14in square white chocolate, 12in hex marble, 9 in round orange butter, and 6 in round. Buttercream iced, fondant palm trees. Airbrushed sky with little black birdies drawn on. Fluffy white buttercream clouds, and graham cracker sand. Candy melt shells. Gumpaste bridge. Had issues putting the top tier on, I drove one of the pillars through the front of the cake!!

Well, here it is...This was for a couple who got married in Hawaii a month or so ago and had a party back home. Thanks so much to everyone who offered their help in making this cake, but especially ailyn222 and Kim B! The cakes are covered in BC and Crushed Vanilla Wafer Cookies. The Water fall and palm trees are made from fondant, and all the flowers were made from gumpaste.

This was my first attept at an 11 x 15 cake. Done all in buttercream. It was my most detailed cake and I think my best cake so far. I think doing a drawing and asigning colors and tips beforehand really helped.

My customer wanted a Luau themed cake with a hula girl on it, but was on a budget that didn't allow a lot of detail work. The buttercream water is covered in a light layer of piping gel and the sand has a dusting of graham cracker crumbs. Took less than an hour.

This was a graduation, birthday, and going away cake. The girl was going off to Africa for two years, so we went with a jungle themed cake. It is buttercream, the animals are fondant/gumpaste.

This cake was my first attempt at palm trees. I learned why not to use rolled wafer cookies to make the trunks. They didn't last very long. I set the cake up at 3pm and by the time of my friend's party, the trees looked like a hurricane hit them. My friend was still happy with the cake. The palm leaves are royal icing, the sand is graham cracker crust, the water is piping gel, and the rest is The island was a 10" circle atop a 1/2 sheet cake. The name and age are Dr Pepper Jelly Bellies. My friend loves DP

This was done for a girl who was getting married in the Dominican Republic and they were having an island themed cake. I didn't like how the sun turned out, but other than that, I thought it was okay.

This is a cake that I made for my sister-in-law's birthday yesterday. She used to work with elephants at the zoo, hence the inspiration for the cake. It is a mocha cake with Bailey's Irish Cream filling. The details are piped in chocolate and the palm trees are Pirouette cookies with buttercream leaves.

I made this cake for my mom who was having a retirement/bon voage party. She moved to Florida and so I got some ideas from other CCers around palm trees and the like. It actually looked much better than this, but unfortunately the dumb men who carried the cake from the car to the venue, mishandled it, and it actually began to crack on the bottom layer:(. We had to turn it to the back and make some quick adjustments so the guest wouldn't notice. I knew I should have taken it in myself, lesson learned!

This cake was made for a guy's 50th Birthday Bash. Obviously, it was a Hawaiian Themed Party! I got the idea from a Debbie Brown book and just embellished it a bit.

This is a yellow pudding cake with a buttercream frosting. The water is blue gel icing. The sand is grahm cracker crumbs. The palm trees are royal icing. The hut is made from a plastic cup (for shape), pretzels, and royal icing to hold it together. I made this cake for a second grade teacher at the school I work in. His class did a couple lessons on expository writing on how to make and decorate a cake! This was such a fun cake to make!

The cake was layered, chocolate on top and wedding white on the bottom. The frosting was bc and the decor was royal. The topper was a find at our local Pet store and would have been used in a hermit crab cage...worked for me and was a very fast cake to put together. Was my first time streaking the border and i think it turned out very well.

This was my first time using fondant. I used MMF to mold the animals, palm trees, rocks, and for the waterfall. Bottom tier was 12" square, middle tier was 8" round, and top tier was 6" round....all white cake with buttercream icing.

I took ideas from the entire jungle cake collection here on CC....which numbered more than 20 cakes. Thank you to everyone who has posted a picture of a tiered jungle cake, as you inspired me!!
