I made this cake from a photo given to me by a customer. It is a picture of one of the barns on their family ranch. He wanted it for a family reunion. It is buttercream colored and painted with a paint brush. It is my first order for one of these. I was so excited even though it took me most of the day to do it.

This cake was the real birthday cake for the blackjack cake I just posted. Apparently he is a airplane nut and this is the plane he is going to buy. I printed out the picture of the airplane, cut it from gumpaste and let dry. When i cut it a left the bottom where the wheels are long so I could stick in cake. Then i painted it according to the picture.

Covered in buttercream icing. The background is done with an airbrush. Everything else was painted with a paintbrush. I had a couple of accidents. I dropped something on the end of the fence and for some reason I couldn't keep my fingers away form the edge of the cake. This was just practice so I didn't worry about it being perfect. I didn't even put a border around it.

Here's an interesting one...I painted this to match the invitation. Not an easy task when you're being bumped by the rush of employees and constantly stopping to tend to customers! Icing is BC, handpainted with artist brushes, airbrush and food coloring tint.

Another one of my buttercream paintings. Inspired by some pictures of lavender fields I saw at the art festival in Ft Worth. I was in the mood to paint and I needed to try out a new caramel cake recipe. It is now my favorite painting. I may have to paint this one with acrylics.

I made this for my niece and my son. There were fondant plaques on 2 sides with each of their names on, and the other 2 sides had their ages on. This was my first attempt at making roses (I'm still a "newbie"!). You can hardly see them, they're so tiny! I have since bought a larger petal tip! The writing is painted on with cocoa mixed with melted shortening.

Just another painting cake I did this time with purple. Not as much detail on this one, but I still think it turned out pretty.

This is just a small test cake, chocolate cake with dulche de leche filling and an espresso, with a hint of cinnamon, frosting. I was experimenting with my new grass tip and painting on crusted buttercream. Also I am trying out a new chocolate cake recipe.

Please be kind! I wanted to try painting a cake, so of course I chose a Van Gogh..Sheesh!! :) 8" and 6" cakes covered in fondant and painted with Wilton colors. Royal icing and luster dust accents. It obviously isn't an exact replica, my proportions are a bit off, but it was fun to try. Thanks for looking!

I was so tired and it was getting so late that I abandoned my original idea and decided to try painting "something" in it.

I'm so excited to share this with everyone, I just wish pictures would do this cake justice. A friend asked me to do a cake for a party for Docents (art critics, I have come to learn) and she requested a painting. Well, I have dabbled in painting with acrylics, so I told her I would do it. I picked out a Monet that is coming to the NC Art Museum in the near future, purchased some new brushes, and went to work on this creation. Chocolate ganache covers the cake & decorated w/ whipped ganache.

12 in round 3 layer with cherry filling and butter cream icing. Top of cake is a pannel of fondant with a "water color painting" of the couples wedding invitation. I couldn't get the painting quite right, so my mom, who is a much better artist than me, did it with food color. The couple was thrilled! They only wanted a small "wedding" style cake due to a large grooms cake (will post) and a chocolate fountain.

Thanks for looking!!!

One of my best friends got married in Canada, and as a surprise, I flew up for the reception. Groom knew, and so he asked if I would decorate their cake, also as a surprise, and could do whatever I wanted. Of course, why wouldn't I! I met her in Spain, and that's where they got engaged, so spanish tiles is the theme. Had to make all these fondant tiles and hand paint them, as well as the flowers, and pack them to fly with them to Halifax. It was a lot of fun. Some breakage, but it wasn't bad.

I was experimenting with Wilton's paste ... dipping a million tooth picks in the jar and swirling it around on slightly dry cookie glaze. Reminds me of Jimmie Hendrix

This is my first attempt at a more difficult cookie. I cut the picture out of a cereal box, then placed on dough and cut around it. I think they are pretty cute. They are for my son's birthday party this weekend.

I made this for my son's birthday party this weekend. It didn't turn out exactly how I had pictured it in my head but over all I am happy with it. The paint is royal icing for both the drips and the painting on the sides. I only made the prime colors: yellow, red, and blue. I got the other shades by mixing those together.

I made this banana and coconut cake for my 21st last year. I had a Mad Hatter's Tea Party and my best friend's mum suggested a Painting The Roses Red Cake. Roses are marizipan partially painted in food colouring. The blue thing was a paint brush but the brush part has been sliced off.

This is my first book cake and the first time I've used MMF fondant to cover a cake. I painted the picture on a piece of MMF with icing color gel thinned with vanilla vodka. I used luster dusted pearls as a border for the picture. The cake is lemon with lemon curd filling.

This is my version of flourgrl's Pucci cake. The customer sent me a photo of the cake and wanted a very similar replica, so thanks to flourgrl for her design and inspiration! Fondant covered cake, all freehanded and hand painted. The photo is dark because it was 3am, and I realized afterwards that I hadn't put the middle border on yet! Oops!

Cake made for my art instructor for helping me soooo much with my grandchilren's portraits. This is a technique called "Black Canvas" Instead of a canvas I used a gumpaste plaque and instead of paint, I used food coloring. I need improvement as an artist, but, overall I'm pleased with the results. Thanks for looking!
