Here is my take on the popular clothesline cake. BC icing and accents, clothes and basket are made from gumpaste. Pacifiers are plastic cake decorations.

After buttercream dried slightly, I made indentions with a ruler. I piped the decorations with buttercream, but they could be made ahead with royal icing.

The mother to be wanted something simple. We used to joke about how, when she was a toddler, we didn't think she'd ever give up her "plug". She loved it when she saw the pacifier tumbling down the side of the cake. The cake was chocolate chocolate chip, orange buttercream filling, IMBC frosting, chocolate clay booties and pacifier.

Whip cream icing and white chocolate accessories with royal icing flowers. I got this idea from a similar cake I found on the web.

I had fun with this one. I found a picture online of 2 pacifiers, one pink and the other blue, but they had the handle made out of a twisted porcelain rope and the porcelain roses. I thought it was so pretty. So, of course, they had to end up on one of my cakes! Always looking for ideas . . . seeing them EVERYWHERE! Oh, this was a white 1/4 sheet cake with buttercream icing and decorations.

This is my 2nd ever baby shower cake - I had to "wing" this cake, as I wasn't given any theme/shower napkin at all. It is a strawberry sheet cake w/ crusting buttercream icing. I did the reverse shell (is it me, or do I use this technique in all my cakes?!) and I used the basketweave technique for the baby blanket. The dark pink in the blanket, is actually little candy heart sprinkles that I added. I made a "cloud pillow" for the sleeping baby. I had fun making this cake.

This is my favorite baby shower cake, because I made it for my sisters first born, Joey! The "baby head/O" actually matched the little face on her invitation. It was a very fun challenge and prompted future "3D" works of art. Thanks for looking! Christina

This is made from 12" round (the only pan I owned at the time) covered in BC. All embellishments except hair are from BC. The hair is made from rolled and cut Tootsie Rolls. The pacifier in the mouth is real.

This is exactly like the other book cake in my photos. All done in B/C except the blocks and the pacifier. The booties are marshmallow booties. This was done for a shower where they didn't know the gender of the baby.

Exactly like the other 2 book cakes in my photos. All B/C except for the blocks and the pacifier. The pacifier is covered in icing b/c the actual color clashed with the them e of the cake.

This cake was for a baby boy's shower. Thanks to Nati's Cakes for the original design! I hope I did it justice. I made the topper out of gumpaste to match the napkins and party decorations. It was a great deal of fun, and probably my most flawless cake ever, if there is such a thing!!
