I made this cake for my best friend's son's 2nd birthday. I have never taken any cake decorating classes, just picked up the icing bag and went to town! This is about the 10th cake or so that I have made. I thought it turned out so cute and I surly didn't want to cut it. I really like the way Oscar's "hair" came out!

I did this cake a second time for my best friend's son's birthday along with an Elmo cake. This is a chocolate cake with buttercream icing. I used the iradescent edible flakes to make the trash can shine a little. This cake was a big hit at the party and I got a couple of orders from it!

This cake was actually made for a an adult cousin...I chose Oscar the Grouch because it fits her personality to the tee. She is constantly fussing and complaining. She stopped being grouchy long enough to say she loved the cake.

I just thought I'd show you girls that I am capable of making my own cakes :) Not everything I do is copied ... This cake I did for an Oscar party I attended last year - I absolutely loved it. Between Million-Dollar Baby and the Aviator ... I don't know who I like best!

Half yellow half chocolate cake with whipped cream buttercream frosting. Edible images that matched the invitations. The happy birthday sign is an edible image on fondant on a sugar cookie.

This is my first attempt at decorating. I had a little trouble with Bert's hair. It fell off and its going to have to go as is. I guess my icing should have been stiffer. I only used buttercream icing.

A cake for a 3 year old. Strawberry cake from scratch (the recipe from here is fantastic) and rice krispie treats for the boxes, trash bag and Oscar. Everything is edible but the letters because I couldn't find the fondant letter cutters anywhere! It's my first time doing anything like this and there's definitely room for improvement but a lot of fun. Thank you to PinkCakeBox for the idea in the gallery.

I know...another boring character cake. This one is yellow cake with strawberry filling, buttercream frosting. Hand-painted trashcan with light and dark silver luster dust. I'm working on more creative cakes! -Just give me time...(and an occasion to try something fancier!) HA HA

I made these today for an Oscar party we hosted for our family. The cupcakes were DELICIOUS! I found the recipe here on CC- it is the Black bottom cupcake recipe. I took the easy road out with the frosting and used premade Choc and Van then just added about 1 1/2 C PS.. The Oscar guy is just white choc cany melts with some yellow coloring and gold sparkle dust sprinkled over the whole thing. Thanks for looking!

These cupcakes were inspired by a posting from bkrmama and I found the Ernie cupcakes on a Sesame Street site. I had these for my son's party and then made more (plus Elmo) for my son's daycare class. The kids all started shouting out the character names! These were REALLY easy and quick to make. About an hour for 26 or so. I had all the colors ready. The eyes are marshmallows with a dot of dark chocolate or black frosting. All the rest is tinted buttercream (except Big Bird's beak). Enjoy!

I covered this cake with Satin Ice fondant. All accents and characters including light post are edible. This was my first "biggie", complete with a personalized cake base, which I think made all the difference. I was pretty pleased with the way it came out. I had a little left over batter so I threw in a smash cake for the baby.

This was the display cake for my DD's Girl Scout Father Daughter Dance. It was an Oscar theme party. I came to CC for inspiration and my daughter picked out the cake she wanted. She did a lot of the work & helped out a ton.

This cake was inspired by someone on CC but unfortunately, due to the new website changes, I cannot find their picture to credit them. Whoever you are, thank you! The can was made out of 2 3" high 6" pans, covered in fondant. The head was made out of the sports ball pan, covered in bc.

Yes we also have musicals. Well my daughter is Petterson in that musical and since it's her last year where she can join the elementary school choir (The Falling Stars), we decided to make some cookies for after the performance. She helped with the round cookies. Made over 100 cookies.
The oscars are for the main characters, the round cookies for all the children including the elementary school orchestra and the picture cookie of Petterson for the Choir and Orchestra directors

Vanilla cake with chocolate mousse filling. My first try with FBCT, they came out a little thick, but I liked the way they "pop" out of the background. The sign is MMF. Everything else is buttercream.

I did not think this cake would turn out but it turned out to be my favorite of the 4 cakes. I used tip 48 for his face, hands and the border. I airbrushed the trash can grey and black.
