I made this for my brother in laws 21st birthday party- the black is actually a very very dark cocoa buttercream frosting that tastes similar to oreos. I found a picture of the original paddle and used it as a reference.

But when I heard the feed back from the reception aparently the guests only saw a flippin awesome it was! :) Its a buttercream cake with fondant accents. I worked with what I was given and in the end I am pretty happy with the turn out.

This cake I made for a friend's little boy who is turning 7 on Friday! He is just having 3 boys over after school so they each get a chocolate transfer star! Mario and his blue trail were done with FBCT using some cake sparkles and pearl dust to add glimmer. All butter cream icing.

This couple is going to be married forever! The bride wanted a fun cake and her fiance was very much into Mario and Nintendo. She wanted a Wedding Cake, but wanted it to for him too. The groom hugged me five times after I delivered this cake. It did come out cool. The characers are all fondant..I did the pipes with gumpaste around toilet tissue rolls and placed then the pillars went inside.

This was made for a colleague, in a HUGE rush. I'm not to happy with a few aspects of it, like the bottom of my triangle is bowed, and on the back there is 2 wrinkles in my fondant. Small ones, but still. And I had no time to do the cake board. it is. Supposed to be Link's clothes and sword from that video game Zelda (client requested design). The cake doesn't really fall off the edge of the board, that's a photo angle issue....I am a critique subgroup member.

My kids wanted me to do a "Duff" cake. Didn't turn out the way I planned--was an extremely busy weekend for "real" orders. TV is sheet cake cut into pieces and stacked. Nintendo is 6" square. My husband and nephew were both celebrating, so score is their ages. Hunting game is playing on the screen. Short plastic dowels are pushed into front of "Nintendo" and real game controls are plugged in. Wood skewers for TV antennaes. Not nearly as polished as I would have liked, but it looks OK.

Made this for DH & I for our bdays (they are 2 days apart). We are both big Nintendo/Mario fans and I knew he would love this. It is a surprise. The pipe and flower are RKT w/ 1/2" dowel running through it all for stem/support. Fondant covered & fondant figures. Wanted to add more to it but DD was sick with the flu last night & needing me today so I was too wiped out to do more :) Cake is an 8" round. Many thanks to all the mario cakes here and on the net that gave the inspiration for this!

My son loves link/legend of zelda from nintendo.
He wanted a link cake, this was our compromise.
Covered in rolled buttercream.
Link was made by melting & coloring chocolates, then tracing/filling in pic I found.

Yellow cake. All butter cream. One UP mushroom from the Mario Bros. games. I love playing the Nintendo games, and we had a “game night†at our place, so I made this for the desert. It turned out fabulous, but I didn’t have that great of a camera…sorry.

Full sheet cake, half choc, half yellow...buttercream icing, the mushrooms are handmade MMF...for my son's 7th birthday. The big Mario on the kart is a remote control car. He couldn't wait to get it off the cake and put batteries in it! lol

1/4 sheet cake trimmed a little to be more rectangular. Going from a controller the client gave me. iced in buttercream with MMF accents. She flipped for this cake and I have to admit I was pretty proud of the way it came out also.

The birthday boy is getting Mariokart for the Wii so his mom thought a matching cake would be fun! I had so many other ideas that I wanted to incorporate but time constraints forced me to simplify. The high praise I got from my 11-year-old son every step of the way mean I did something right! ;-) Fondant bananas and sign, RI mushrooms.

I made this cake for a friends birthday, I don't think its half bad for my second use of fondant. No one would even cut it so I had to. I made cupcakes to look like the different mushrooms.

This was a cake I did for my husband's surprise party. Because it was a surprise- I didn't have the time to work on it like I normally would- it was decorated quickly right before the party. The controller is a frosted Rice Krispy treat and candy decorations. The cupcakes are "1-Up Mushrooms."
