This was done for a co-workers daughters birthday and her friend. The huts are yellow cupcakes piped with the grass tip. The roof of the huts are cocktail umbrellas piped with the grass tip. The ocean is piping gel colored in blue. The Palm Trees are pretzel rods, with royal icing leaves and royal icing coconuts and the edging is 4 Leis held on by the same color buttercream icing.

This cake is covered in buttercream and decorated with figurines and a real dreamcatcher. The wolf is howling at the full moon! This cake is full of southwestern flair.

I had someone ask for an outdoor type cake that involved fishing. She wanted a round cake. I saw Lynne's cake in the Nature contest and thought the trees on the side would be perfect, so I used that idea. The lake is piping gel, the rocks, rod and fish are fondant. The cake was a chocolate cake with chocolate bavarian cream filling and buttercream icing.

This is my entry for the birthday category at the SC 2006 state fair. I won first place and sweepstake award (which is equivalent to best of show) for this cake. All flowers were hand pulled, they took a lot of time to make! Trees and rocks are all fondant. Waterfalls is royal icing. This is a retake of my other nature cake which won CC's nature contest.

I decorated this cake in under 10 minutes. My son was hit with a baseball during practice just before his party, so I ran out of time. This is the 5th cake I have decorated since starting the Wilton classes (I am on course 2 now). I would love feedback!

Well, one of them anyway. This was done for my soon-to-be niece, who loves anything that crawls! Frosted with bc, covered with fondant, and all the critters are fondant. Was a fun cake to make!

This was for my oldest son's birthday. He wanted a nature cake with his favorite creatures: snake, lizard, bird and dragonfly! :) I got some of the ideas from browsing some pictures and just created my own, and I wish I could remember names, but I can't! Someone posted an awesome article on making the dragonfly - and it came out so cool.

This was a fun cake to do - It was made from one large round cake and then cut in half and turned so the curved sides were back to back and then a notch was cut from each side and used to make the body of the butterfly. It's all made with buttercream and little glitter flakes. Then I went a step further and made some smaller butterflies from fondant for the extra cupcakes.

I made this for a combined birthday party for my husband, his brother and brother's wife. All 3 of them love mountains, so what better than a mountain cake? My first attempt at cake sculpting, it was more challenging than I thougt. The splashes of colors on the sides were supposed to look like wild flowers from a distant, I'll do a better job next time :)

Just wanted to try the stencil technique. The cake is made out of 4 pound cakes bought from the dollar store. Didn't feel like baking LOL. Fondant is chocopan. Not bad for a practice cake. TFL!

I did half a sheet cake all in buttercream except for the rocks. I used fondant for them. My nephew is obsessed with frogs so I featured 7 of them, 3 alligators or crocs, and three turtles. A school of fish made up the 6 for how old he turned.

This is a dummy cake which I made in Colette Peter's advanced fondant and gumpaste class. All tiers are carved and covered in fondant. Frog is also sculped from foam and fondant. The waterfall is very thin sheets of gumpaste which were draped and then painted with piping gel. The dragon flies are made from gumpaste and leaf gelatin. This was a really fun cake to do.
