Just another cake i did at work. (this is the second one I have made for the same lady) she said the first one made a grown man cry ( he liked it) It's just a simple buttercream n all that stuff airbrushed and piped medallion on the tip with triple e-motion top border and beaded bottom border. (to get gold you mix lots of yellow with just a touch of purple. keeps the color more vibrant and clean that way). So needless to say the lady just loved it. Tried to make the piping look like feathers

Made for a friend of mine for her grandmother's 85th birthday party! My inspiration was the Fiesta cakes done by TripletMom - as you can tell since this is almost an exact copy...as close as I could get it! Sombrero, Chiles and Serape are made from fondant

My first BIG fondant cake - and last! Each layer was 4 layers, everything made from scratch, it took me over 13 hours to make. I made the critical error of not staking it (a lesson only needed to learn ONCE). The customer picked it up, had only to go a few blocks, put it on his backseat.... the whole cake crashed. I was absolutely heart sick when I attended the party and discovered my cake in the kitchen. Live and learn!

This baby shower cake was designed for a couple expecting twins, and the theme of the shower was "Mexican fiesta"! All buttercream w/ fondant accents and babies. Quite unusual, I know!

When I saw these cakes in the food cake contest, I had to have a FIESTA party for my son's 2nd birthday party just so I could make them. To make them look more real I added texture to the shell. The tedious work paid off. They were a hit! Everyone thought they were actually tacos, not realizing it was the cake. I made a separate one for a plate with a candle in it for the birhtday boy. Thank you to all those who posted theirs and gave instructions and tips!!

The theme of this cake progressed from the earth to the sky with things Mexican. Silver, zinnias, chili peppers, guitar, serape, hat, mission church and bell, Our Lady of Guadaloupe (the blue and yellow rays, and Castellian roses), and a Talavera sun.All decorations are gumpaste While it does show an amature's attempt at large scale fondant and painting, it was fun to do and lots was learned.

I had so much fun making this cake. It was for my best friend's daughter's 13th birthday! She had a Mexican Fiesta theme. It's coconut cake with coconut buttercream. I have to say, that's the best flavor buttercream I've had yet! She was thrilled with this cake. Very last minute, but I think it came out pretty decent!!! Thanks for takin' a look!

Fondant chips, salsa in bowl, sombrero, hat, peppers and ocean waves. The margaritas and maracas are candles. I got ideas for different things on this cake from other cakes posted here on CC. White cake, FBCT of the Three Cabaleros. It was so hot that day, by the time we got it to the lake (about a 2 hours later) it wasn't looking so great anymore. Im glad that I got a pic of it before then.

I made this cake for an engagement party my brother threw for some friends. Thanks to doofusmongerbeep and Wilton.com for the inspiration. The round cake is Key Lime (man did that turn out good!) and the square cake is vanilla butter cake. BC for all icing except sombrero that was done with MMF... (I need to work on the drying technique for the brim) Peppers are done with red plastic chocolate. Enjoy!!

Got this idea from ShirleyW, original design by Wilton. My housemate was turning 21 and requested a Mexican themed cake, this was perfect. We filled the glasses with lemonade prior to celebrating so the four of us could toast, very fun. Its a four layered marble cake with crusting buttercream.
