This was my cake from the Elegant fondant course I just took. My Royal Icing was too thick so the cornelli lace isn't very good but it was KILLING my hand so this was the best I could do!!! Please feel free to critique & offer suggestions for improvements.

This cake was done for a friend of a friend who took my old bed to the trash. To be honest I just wanted to practice making a bed cake. I tried to be scientific about the whole thing and measure and even made and exact replica of the quilt on power point but in the end I had to improvise because I didn't take into account the rise of the cake (I didn't want to level it because I bed is fluffy) and the extra inches added on by the frosting. Anyway lessons learned

I did this cake for a bride that loves strawberries. The cake is modeled after "Lucious Fruits" in a Wilton wedding cake book. The cake is marble with strawberry filling and is decorated with whipped icing. She was really happy with her cake.

Marble cake frosted with cali4dawn's buttercream. 11x15 sheet cake made to look like brick wall for cousin who received his journeyman's. He works in the construction field and specializes in brickwork and stonework (he's quite good).

This is a two tier marble cake. The first tier is an 8" round and the second tier is a 6" round. The cake is frosted with cali4dawn's buttercream frosting and filled with white chocolate pudding. The top tier is decorated with cornelli lace (tip 2) and the second tier is just random dots with round tips 3 and 5. I am not very proud of my cornelli lace...I was doing it last minute on an empty stomach so my hand was not very steady as it could have been.

This cake is for a couple moving back to Kentucky. They enjoy this particular brand of bourbon. All fondant. The lettering was done by printing it out and using very thin fondant then tracing the lettering by painting it with paste colors and a very thin brush.

This was an experiment to get to try and use a new technique with fondant. I think it turned out fairly well. It's yellow cake with French BC and MMF.

This cake measures: 10", 8", 6" tiers. Decorations are made of MMF with tons of Luster Dust! By the way, I made the cracks on purpose! I thought it gave the cake an Old World look. I think this cake would be ideal for a wine tasting party or a wedding in a vinyard with lots of grapes on it rather than leaves. Cake for thought! LOL!

Fudge Marble 9x13 cake filled and frosted with chocolate buttercreme. First time making chocolate buttercreme - not sure if I liked it. It was hard to spread or something!

This one I guessed where all the things went because I didn't read the directions (silly me). But It came out okay. Her eyes were supposed to be black, but I really didn't feel like making black frosting for just her eyes. I was disappointed that it melted so much in the night before I took the picture. (Finished the cake at about 3 AM. and said forget it, pictures tomorrow.) *shrug* Oh well, it tasted good--it was marble cake =)

this cake for a cosmetolgist graduation features her reversed image on the fondant/bc mirror along with the scissors, shampoo, conditioner bottle and cape. I was going for a counter-top look with the marbled fondant top.

We did this cake in course 3. Our instructor showed us how to marble the fondant by adding streaks of paste color and folding and working it until you get the desired look. I finished it off with buttercream lacework and ruffle and royal icing flowers.

Cake for my step-father's 60th Birthday. All but headboard and footboard are rolled fondant. Coffee can is cake. Marbles and can are dusted in shimmer dust to look like frost from freezer. (The story behind this is that my step-father used to threaten to dump frozen marbles into the bed if we were sleeping late. He'd walk down the hallway shaking them in a coffee can. If you can imagine, frozen marbles will seek the lowest point in the bed, which is where you're laying...and they don't ever melt!)

This cake is a vanilla sponge cake filled with rasberry mousse, passion fruit mousse and lemon curd whipped cream, my favorite fillings. It's coverd in salmon pink and pink marble suger paste, to match the roses. Just decorated with the bouquet, a white suger paste border and ribbon.

Not as beautiful as ellrae's or KittisKake( where the inspiration for this one came from). Butterflies are rice paper painted with gel colors, rocks are MMF, cake and board are also covered with MMF. My feeble attempt at hand painting on the side with gel colors.

This is my first wedding cake. The bride had chosen a picture off of the website for Harp Foods and asked me if I could do it. It was for a small wedding in the bride's home with only family in attendance, so I had to scale it down. It is a 6", 8", and 10" round, all vanilla cake with "marbled" buttercream. The miniature flowers and drape are fondant. The bride's florist will be placing flowers on the top and where the drape gathers. I was pretty proud of my first wedding cake.

This is my first wedding cake. I posted it last week without the flowers. The groom picked it up and took it to their private in-home wedding and they added the flowers themselves, courtesy of Flowerama in Mansfield, Ohio. This is buttercream that I marbled for an antique look, and has buttercream vines and leaves, and ivory fondant flowers and fondant cascade.

Marble cake with chocolate fudge filling.
Buttercream icing.
Instead of doing the usual borders, I used candy bones and decorated with scooby doo toys. Sprayed a "road" for the gang.
Let me know what you think:)

This cake was shamelessly stolen from "Collete's Cakes" by the astounding Collette Peters. It's chocolate-cherry with chrerry filling covered with buttercream and my first attempt at homemade MMF (the 'simple recipe from this site with Marshmallow Fluff). The decoration is my first attmept with royal icing. Collette's was a lot prettier, but my mom liked it!

This was my "duchess" cake: four layers (alternating) of white chocolate cake and blackout cake with blackout cream filling. Iced in white chocolate mousse icing with all the decorating done in the leftover blackout cream. Headstone is white chocolate paste with a little black gel color kneaded in to make the marbelized appearance. Recipient just loved it. "Dirt" was crumbs of the chocolate cake. Thanks much to a CC photo for the inspiration for the coffin shape.

Just finished this one and hope it makes the drive across town to the party! It's chocolate/mocha cake with chocolate truffle filling, MMF marblized and painted. The idea was shamelessly stolen from the amazing "Cakes to Dream On" by Collette Peters. Hers looked better but I get to eat mine.

Here is a yellow/chocolate marble cake with a basketball theme. Thanks to all the great ideas here at CC. The boy wanted red and black but I recommended black accents with the red rather than all black or all red where the blue was. They liked the end result. Enjoy

This was my second time working with fondant, and it went soooo much better than my first. This is a white cake with BC icing covered in Fondant with Fondant accents. It was the first cake we did in the Fondant and Gumpaste class. I used Wilton fondant, and while it does taste icky, at least I know how fondant is supposed to feel now.
