This is just a simple yellow cake torted with buttercream. The lady that requested this just told me they were having a luau themed anniversary party, and that they were know as the Two Bears, and would like that incorporated into it. I sprayed the waves with the food coloring spray, chocolate seashells, brown sugar sand, and Kandy Klay flowers. The palm tree is a breadstick dipped in chocolate with Kandy Klay leaves. I hope she likes it!

I made this cake for my niece's 5 th birthday. It's chocolate and white layers. I used gumpaste and fondant for the flowers and leaves and the hula girl is fondant on top of a skirt from a small wondermold pan cake. The tree is a pretzel rod wrapped in fondant with gumpaste leaves attached with melted chocolate.

I made this cake for my little sister's 16th birthday party, which had a luau theme. This was my first tiered cake, and I decorated with BC and royal. I had a lot of fun doing it, but still have so much to learn!

Just made this for a customer's 6 year old daughter. She didn't want any writing on, there's not! Looks a little naked to me! She's picking up tomorrow...hope they like it!! Iced in buttercream, except royal flowers on the side. It's vanilla cake with chocolate filling (that's what the 6 year old wanted!) Thanks to many on this site, especially Aitza, for the inspiration! :)

I did this cake for a girl I work with. They celebrated 3 birthdays and had a luau with a pig in the ground and all! It was for her husband, her MIL and a friend. 11x15 2 layer all buttercream with a 2 layer 6 in round for the beach with blue cake sparkles on the blue icing. Inspired by Wilton's cake and a cake that I saw on here by gilpnh. This was my first paid cake after my Course 3 class in August.

This was a last minute idea for a 50th Birthday Party with a Luau Theme. I had to make enough cake for 75 to 100 people on a last minute call. I worked all night but it was a lot of fun. When the lady came to pick it up it was too big to fit into her sports car...oh well my husband had to clean out her trunk so she could transport the cake. They loved the cake!

I tried to make the sides look like a grass skirt. This did not turn out exactly how I wanted. I also need to learn how to make flowers. Always learning!

Thanks to all my CC friends for the inspiration & ideas for this cake...I learn so much from looking at what everyone has created!

I made these for a customer who's 9yr old neice is having a Luau themed birthday party. Funfetti cake with buttercream icing....MMF straps & plaque, silk flowers & brown sugar sand (I really wanted to add shells, but she didn't think it needed it).

Here's a birthday cake I did for my friend's mom's 50th birthday. Happy Birthday is spelled out in Hawaiian. Thought it added an "authentic" touch. :)

This cake was a joint effort between myself and my just-turned 7 yr. old daughter. We used her Polly Pockets for the hula girls, flip flop candles, fruit roll-up beach towel and palm tree leaves, candy bananas and fish, and chocolate seashells and letters (which we made with molds). The "sand" on the island is a mixture of brown sugar and graham cracker crumbs.

Made for my daughters birthday party yesterday. She turned 8 and I have made her cake every year since birth and each gets a little better than the last. Not bad for once a year practice. The cake broke so I turned that into a cliffside and river.. she wanted the fish. Objects are MMF (which I just learned about) and lollipop sticks. The roasted pig in the corner turned out great. I ran out of bags to write 'Happy Birthday' so my wife cheated and used the candy letters. :)
