Winnie the pooh baby shower cake. First attempt at the fondant/gumpaste loop bow and I made the characters out of royal icing. Inspiration from both tinabee and dawnbakescakes here on CC. I had no idea (someone else bought the decorations), but the polka dots matched the decorations perfectly!

I saw these Fruit Loop straws in the cereal aisle at Walmart, and immediately thought they would make a great take on the pirouette cake. I've never done one before, so this was practice for me. I think all the bright colors look nice.

I made another gumpaste bow - it looks a lot better than the first one. Not perfect, but it looks a lot better. A few of my loops broke on me, but I think it still looks okay. Any tips or pointers will be greatly appreciated.

This cake has around 700 or so loops from royal icing on it. My friend picked this cake out of the wilton wedding portfolio for me to do. I love it, it matched the beach wedding and reception club/beach house she had perfect!!!! It was yellow w/ buttercream, she is a simple person.

Birthday cake for my sister-in-law. Decorated with Satin Ice Fondant. Bow and giftbox top are gumpaste decorated with luster dust. This was my first square cake and I was pretty happy with how it came out for a first try. I had a little trouble smoothing out the bottom corners.

14", 10" and 6" red velvet cake with crusting cream cheese buttercream. Piped out about 1,000 loops. After I put it together I noticed that I missed the marks to align the columns.

Almond cake with buttercream filling, covered in fondant, fondant bow and wire swirls. First time using the wire, I covered them in plastic wrap, but just wasn't that easy to do. Must find another way!

Board is fabric-covered, 6", 10", yellow butter and marble with BC filling and frosting. Dots and border are BC. Bow is modeling chocolate/chocolate clay. I made it with dark chocolate for a darker brown - YUM - just like a dark chocolate tootsie roll! Thanks CC for the info and tutorials on MMF and loop bows! Thought the MMF would be really hard to do on the square cakes, but not bad at all, thanks to the tip to make the MMF with less powdered sugar. I also added a bit of corn syrup.

My sister's 21st birthday cake. When she saw the picture of a cake by "cakesbyallison", she HAD to have it. I did my best shot...I would have liked to add some silver to it but I ran out of time. It was also my first time making a fondant loop bow. It wasn't as hard as I thought it would be. Thanks for looking.

I am very proud of this cake. I haven't done a lot of wedding cakes so I am still learning. This is all covered with pink and white fondant. It was a chore to get the larger cakes covered, but with the help of my husband it turned out alright. The top layer is covered in BC cornelli lace. This cake will feed 232 people. I only charged $250 for it because I wasn't sure how it would turn out. Now I wish I would've charged more. It's okay. I learned a lot! It will be a great addition to my portfolio.

Thanks to Moydear for the inspiration on the loops! Mine did not come out nearly as cool as hers though. I still stink at BC roses, but the customer didn't care what I did, she just wanted yellow, so I threw some practice ones on there.

This was my daughter's sixteenth birthday. The fondant looks rough at the bas , but it wasn't really... must be the reflection of the board covering.

Thanks to Tanyacakes... your cakes are fabulous!

A cake for a co-worker's daughter. Red Velvet cake minus the red (food coloring is impossible to find the week after Easter) with cream cheese filling and Buttercream Dream. Fondant, gumpaste, and chocolate decorations. I had a blast on this one!

The top cake was originally supposed to be a 6 inch, but the bow ended up a lot larger than I thought. I also didn't make enough loops so I improvised. I'll definitely try this again.

Fondant covered cake with ribbon loops made out of royal icing. Inspired by a cake in Spectacular Cakes though I wish I would have looked at their picture more closely BEFORE I made cake. I wasn't too pleased with the uniform look of the loops and saw afterwards how the placement of theirs differed from mine. This is why we practice I guess:)

This cak e is iced smooth with buttercream. Chocolate MMF loop bow and ribbon. I have been having problems with my buttercream that has butter and Crisco in it, so I added cornstarch to the recipe. It helped a lot, but I am still getting hairline cracks that appear on the sides of the cake. I posted the recipe on the thread entitled...Answer to the New Crisco Problems - New Recipe. Any help would be great!

This is the first time I've attempted a loop bow. A MASSIVE thank you for the article here on Cake Central! The birthday girl's mum collected it and said how much her daughter is going to adore it... especially the way the bow is so pretty and shimmery!

Thanks To Doug for the advice on the loop.
I made this cake for my son's best friend. 30 med. Cupcakes covered with sandy color MMF. I made the loop and name sign from Gumpaste. Wrote with BC and Yellow wafers. I purchased the little sugar cars. It was just too hot to have chocolate only cars. The boys loved it. I was really happy with the end product.
