I made these for a customer who's 2 children have birthdays only a week apart...they had one huge Madagascar themed birthday party for both kids...the youngest was turning 1, so I also made a smash cake for him.

The 3-tiered cake will feed 55+. Both are all white cake with all buttercream icing. The characters are royal icing transfers...the leaves, rocks & palms are all MMF, pretzel rods for palm trunks...the water is buttercream painted with piping gel...everything is edible! :0)

Thanks for looking!

One customer wanted that cake (Idea from Martha Stewart) for a jungle theme party for her 2 y-o son. I had the instructions to do the cake for awhile, and she saw it on Martha show a few weeks ago and decided she wanted that one. I was pleased to do it. So easy to do!! When I took the picture I forgot to put the whiskers oops!! Now they're on the cake!!! I hope they have a great party!!

I made the lemurs & penguins from sugarpaste a couple of days earlier. The rest are cake. Melman (giraffe) actually collapsed twice when i was moving the cake (although i had secured the pillars to the cake board), so i gave up at the end and placed him on his tummy. I did manage to get this shot first. Its all a little messy...i used the satnd up lamb for Alex the lion's head & body, and the rest of it for Melman. Gloria (hippo) was the ball tin. Marty (zebra) was the train tin, shaven off here and there.

A zoo half-cake for my daughter's 2nd birthday. I wanted something small enough to take WITH us to the zoo, but I didn't want cupcakes, so I cut an 8" cake in half. Pirouette cookies around the outside, fondant decorations, yellow cake w/chocolate BC frosting. On this cake I learned how much sturdier Wilton fondant is for figures; the panda is the only one made of MMF and he never dried! Next time I'll check out gum-tex.

The invitation for this cake was adorable!! (Shown enlarged in photo) The animals and the writing are done in royal icing. I got it a little too thin for the animals, but not too bad. The rest is BC.

I made this for a friend who was giving a Noah's Arc themed baby shower. It's a chocolate cake with buttercream. The animals are molded out of mmf. This was my first cake with mmf animals. She was happy with the way the cake turned out!

THis bouquet is made of butter cookies with Royal Icing. The Violet is the sorority flower and the lion is their "mascot". I used the symbol function in word to print out the letters, then traced onto the cookie when dry. You jsut use a food safe pencil (for young kids). I think that was in an autumn carpenter book.

This is my first attempt in doing figure piping with buttercream.. at first I wasnt sure whether they look like lions, tigers, bears or crocodiles, but my daughter recognised them... so obviously they look real to her.

The customer just wanted the baby einstein characters around a tiered cake (with matching cupcakes). Funfetti 10, 8, 3" layers....the 3" was the 'smash' cake for the birthday girl. Buttercream icing with colorflow and gumpaste accents. I'll upload pics of the sides as well so you can see all the colorflow pieces....it was my first try at colorflow and I had some cracking issue, but overall, I love this technique! Thanks for looking!

I made this for my brother and his girl friend who are expecting their child in approximately 18 days. It was for their baby shower cake and was completely inspired (dare i say copied?) from ladybug03. I had a completely different cake in mind when i started and then I saw hers and just knew it would be perfect. lemon cake with blueberry filling (a recipe i also got from another cc member but the name escapes me now). it was delicious and the couple loved it!!!

6" on top of 8". BC covered and bordered. Fondant animals, plaque, and number. Looks more safari, but I think it works for zoo. I copied the animals from adarabia. Love all of her work! Thanks for great idea.

Best Picture I have! I am so upset. I worked so long & hard on these and I did not get a good picture of them. The full length pic is too far away and it is of the back of the arrangement because their was a huge picture window behind the cupcakes making it hard to take a pic!!! ugh!!! elephant, gator & lion - all BC.

This was done for 2 teachers birthdays but seem to fit into the back to school theme. The lion was done because that is the school mascot.

Isn't this pan cute? I just love it. My son wanted this pan, so we brought it home and made one up. I added a little depth to the mane, which I'm kinda proud of........ LOL. Now I have all kinds of color combinations for this pan running round in my brain.

decorated pretty much entirely by my son Perry, 13, he is entering it in his school's agricultural day competition. I helped by colouring the icing and he decided on design and iced it himself. not bad for a first effort!

My take on the WBH Safari cake. Cake is 9" banana cake with Bavarian cream filling, iced in IMBC. Decorated with chocolate transfers. Got a bit crowded on top, tried to re-arrange some of the transfers and messed up the buttercream, next time I will go for the less is more approach.
