This was my very first cake. My sister was leaving to go to Africa for a semester, so I made this cake for her going away party. I free handed Africa in piping gel. The lion is made from fondant.

This baby shower was a jungle theme. The lion on top was a white cake. The sheet cake was chocolate with a filling I made from a Cream Filling recipe and Thin Mint Girl Scout Cookies. Everyone at the shower really liked the filling and the cake!

I hadn't decorated any cakes for probably 20 years and decided I wanted to make my grandson's 2nd birthday cake. He LOVES animals and when I saw this on the cover of the 2006 Wilton book, I knew I had to make it for him. He and his little friends loved the icing and candy animals, but most weren't too interested in the cake. After this, I knew I wanted to do more cakes and cookies.

All of the cake is made out of mmf with mmf animals. I've learned to allow for a little more time when decorating this cake. :) I really had fun with this one and thought it turned out quite cute!

This cake I made for my nephew and his classmates. Today they have produced the Norwegian play "People and robbers in Cardamom Town". My nephew played the elefant and therefore I made the cake with the animals of Cardamom Town.
It is a chocolatecake covered with sugarpaste and marcipan. Figures in sugar dough.

This was a huge baby shower cake, 14-10-6 and two small ovals on the sides, the animals are hand sculpted in mmf and gumpaste. The customer is saving the animals to decorate the nursery of the baby. I love the litle monkey sucking his tumb.

6" on top of 8". BC covered and bordered. Fondant animals, plaque, and number. Looks more safari, but I think it works for zoo. I copied the animals from adarabia. Love all of her work! Thanks for great idea.

Chocolate/white tiers. BC with colorflow animals and trees and fondant baby.
My 9 y/o told me " um there are no palm trees in Africa" but it was cute
and that was what the hostess asked for . It was for a coworker so I wasn't worried.

This cake was a beast for me. I iced it with yellow BC, then used black BC (which I tried to tint black, but looks gray) for the outlines after I laid down a piping gel transfer of the lion. The red is piping gel also.

This goes with the Jungle Cupcakes I made for my nephews. For
the Lion I used the Rocking horse pan and a cookie cut in the shape
of the Lions face on top of the horse face. It was easier than I thought.
I copied it out of a Wilton Yearbook.

This was my first time using fondant. I used MMF to mold the animals, palm trees, rocks, and for the waterfall. Bottom tier was 12" square, middle tier was 8" round, and top tier was 6" round....all white cake with buttercream icing.

I took ideas from the entire jungle cake collection here on CC....which numbered more than 20 cakes. Thank you to everyone who has posted a picture of a tiered jungle cake, as you inspired me!!

This was so much fun to make. Baby shower theme was jungle/rain forst as the nursery is decorated that way. Marble cake with bc filling, mmf, branches made from chocolate clay, figures from Wilton fondant as it dries faster...

Lion, Elephant, flowers and tree leaves are made of fondant and the tree trunks are big pretzels. This is the first time I've tried to make animals out of fondant and it wasn't as hard as I thought it would be.

All BC except "ONE", "KYLE", and Lion's mane and tail are fondant.
Sugar cookies cut from Noah's Ark mini cutters from Wilton, and iced with poured cookie icing. Wilton lion shaped pan is available, but I did not use it.
The lion was removed and given to the birthday boy for total destruction, but he really just wanted the fondant!
