I was asked to do a cake for the 4th...that the people almost didn't buy. But that's another story. Chocolate cake with buttercream. It was suggested that I enter it in the contest...so here it goes.

I used all BC icing. The fireworks were cupcakes w/ BC icing. I didn't have much time, so next time I think I'll make one big firework w/ 1/2 of the sports ball pan.

When I think of Independence Day, I think of all of the picnics and family gatherings! This is a 4th of July picnic scene, with a marshmallow fondant tablecloth, lemonade, watermelon, and apple pie!

I made this for the 4th of July. I had only been decorating for about a month when I did this cake and was pretty proud of how it turned out.
Chocolate cake with buttercream icing.

I made this cake for my office's monthly birthday celebration. The stars are made of candy melts and the small stars have nonparels on them.

Vanilla cake with buttercream.

My dad's birthday is July 4, but we had a small party (like, 5 of us LOL) today - I think he was pretty floored. Everything is done in MMF, I had to run the stars straight up on the top tier because I had major problems with it cracking. I airbrushed some of the stars with a mix of lustre dust and vodka (although not sure I recommend it as it clogs a little). The large MMF stars that said Happy Birthday Dad, well, one busted on the way to the house so I skipped them - shows detail better though. :)

This was very last minute - DH told his mother I'd make one for their party on Saturday - WITHOUT asking me first!? (Our house is a construction zone right now) grrrrrrr Anyway - I went ahead and did it, with some suggestions from a few of you here and on another board. Left half is chocolate sour cream cc's, right half is red velvet - cream cheese icing all over. This went really quickly and I think I'm now hooked on these little ccc's! Thanks for looking!

Sugar cookies with buttercream frosting. I prefer royal for cookies, but didn't have meringue powder. They still turned out ok, but not as polished looking.

This is my first attempt at a scratch cake. Suprisingly enough, it came out with the texture and taste of wedding cake. :)

Used a combination of MMF, Wilton gumpaste, and Wilton fondant. The red wouldn't take to the MMF, so that's the only reason for the WF.

Buttercream (sweating buttercream!) with royal icing grill painted with silver dust. Charcoal briquets are shards from the first (broken) grill painted with yellow, red and brown gel food colors. Sweaty but well-received. Note to self: bother to put a tip on the bag next time so the lines are nice and round instead of this way.

Here is my 4th of July cake. I was going for topsy turvy with a big tent feel. Covered in mmf, hand painted, royal icing snail trail, Uncle Sam is mmf. Top is 6" White Russian cake with choc. ganache filling, Bottom is 9" Black Russian cake with choc Ganache filling. Tasted awsome! Thanks to missjane for her inspiring Uncle Sam cake! Thanks for looking!

Two Layer Chocolate with Choc BC and Crushed Andes Mints in between the layers. BC and Fonfant Covered. I found this cake in the back of a Wilton yearbook and thought it would be great for my Son who's Navy. He was home on leave over the 4th of July. Pray for our Soldiers, Silors, Flyboys, etc....

This is the 2nd cake I did for the 4th. This was my nightmare cake...from baking to filling to decorating. I was happy to just get it done and over with. The only plus was that I used the Wilton spray on color for the first time and loved the ease of coloring fondant....now I can't wait to get an airbrush.

I did this cake for a contest at work but I messed up the MMF so I didn't get it ready in time. It was going to be a 2 layer whimsical cake, but since it wasn't for a contest anymore I just put a 6 in cake on top. It still came out rather interesting, I think. Do people actually eat fondant? I think it is kind of weird...

These were really fun to do. I bought the Wilton cupcake holder for 12 cupcakes...kinda wish I had the bigger one now. Made these to take to a family get-together. French Vanilla with vanilla frosting. I colored red, white, and blue, added sprinkles and Wilton firework picks. My family loved them.

This is my 2nd decorating attempt. You can see I was shaky doing the stripes on the firecrackers! I did the blue stars with a little cookie cutter dipped in blue liquid food coloring.
