Lemon cake w/frsh orange zest, buttercream frosting. At the last minute I ran out of time and had to use the birds I bought as a back-up plan. Next time I'll try doing them in fondant.

I made this for my daughter's 3rd bday. She absolutely loved her "house cake" and was thrilled to see Snow White and all her buddies on the other cake! I made the "Durable cake for 3D and Wedding cakes" but used French Vanilla instead of white/yellow. Everyone just raved at how good it was...I must admit it was the best cake I've ever made, so delicious and moist.

This cake was decorated to match the home of the lady who ordered the cake and decorated with a spooky twist for a Halloween Block Party.

The cake is a vanilla pound cake that was made from scratch with buttercream icing and fondant was used for the ghosts, shutters, and other decor.

This is my 12 yr old son and mine's first attempt at cake and candy making. The roof is fondant and all of the decorations are made by hand out of chocolate.

Sometimes, I think cakes are like childbirth, once it's over you think you could do it again. That's what this cake felt like.

This is a cake that I made for my sister-in-laws niece. I used the Shortcake Estate from the Wilton 2006 yearbook as a reference point. But I do not like fondant so I always use buttercream. I also added the strawberries on the sides to allow it to feed more people. Plus it fit more into the theme of Strawberry Shortcake.

I made this cake for my sister-in-law. She lives in Wisconsin and we're in NJ. She's in the process of adopting 3 children and since most of our friends and family hadn't met them my mil had a party for them yesterday. This is the cake I came up with...please ignore the awful handwriting on the cake....I thought my regular left handing handwriting is bad? It's 10x worse with an icing bag in hand!!!

Here is the second gingerbread house that I made. The kit came from Wal-mart and was pre-baked. I assembled and decorated. Added a few extra goodies--frosted mini wheats on the roof, cookie tree and fence. These things are addictive.

I've caught a baking bug and couldn't wait to make my gingerbread house. It's smaller than the last one I made with less candies but I will make up for it next year. I hope you enjoy looking at it. The windows are like stained glass but do not show up very well in the picture. I melted cinnamon and butterscotch hard candy along with green suckers to create the stained glass effect.

This g-house kit was done by my 5 year old. I was in charge of the bag of icing but she told me where to put it! I let her do all the decorating and didn't interfere at all, which is a major accomplishment for me!!! I kept my mouth shut! She did great!

A lesson well learned...cream cheese icing is waay to thin for star tip decorating! But it did turn out looking like cobblestones (sort of), which is a good thing. The 4yo Princess loved it!

This is a gingerbread house I made a couple of years ago in Chicago. We have since moved to Tampa and I have found making gingerbread is very different here in this weather!

This was my first gingerbread house in Florida! And boy did the humidity wreak havoc on it! Things did not dry, gingerbread slumped, etc. Anyway, I did this for a coffee house event at our church. The "baked goods" in the window are made of gumpaste - the mini gingerbread houses are caramels with gum for the roof. This was a challenge, but fun!!!
