I made this for a little boy's 5th birthday. He wanted a "candy cake". If nobody at this party develops a cavity, it will be a miracle! Bottom layer is a 12 inch hexagon, yellow cake with chocolate buttercream filling and chocolate icing, middle is 8" round chocolate cake with cookies & cream filling and buttercream icing, and top is a 6" hexagon yellow cake with chocolate buttercream filling and buttercream icing. All of the decorations are candy - Twizzlers, Sweet Tarts, Laffy Taffy, Skittles, etc.

This is the other side of my practice cake. I tried the brush embroidery technique, but because I was too lazy to make fresh royal icing, the brush strokes disappeared in only a few minutes! Next time I'll get it right!

This is my first wedding cake(s). I had to bring all of my pans, tools, and ingredients down to Florida from New Jersey for this cake. These cakes are hexagon shaped coverd in ivory rolled fondant with piped royal icing scrollwork. The cameos are made of fondant and were airbrushed. The flowers are silk. The cakes were yellow sponge cake with a chocolate gnache filling. I covered the cakes with buttercream icing before applying the fondant.

Ok...this is my first official cake ...I got the idea from Wilton's Celebrating with Fondant book. I did this for my sisters bridal shower. The cake and flowers are all made from fondant. I had a lot of fun putting it all together.

I'm still learning. But gained a little confidence this weekend with an hexagon shaped wedding cake in 4 tiers with butter cream and a simple piped design. I added wiltons white glitter and it really made the cake sparkle for the candlelight wedding and reception.

This is the same practice cake as Pink Blossom before adding all else. Not too happy with how the fondant covering came out...

This the second cake in the potluck party that my lab had yesterday. This one is to recognize a post doc who got a position at UC Irvine, a lab researcher (who got his MD in China) who will get to do his residency in New York, and finally to recognize my advisor who got appointed to the American Academy or Arts and Sciences.

Cake is the Wacky Cocoa cake with a twinkie filling and Pastry Pride to frost. Symbols made out of royal icing.

6" Hexagon. Simply decorated for a cake walk fundraiser for the local Y daycare program. Was trying to use up some of my extra clown heads (they freak me out laying around the house)

This was a birthday cake for the monthly birthday potluck at work. I wanted to practice stacking cakes for an upcoming wedding. It's a good thing I did. I had a mini disaster when I tried to decorate both tiers at once and on a tilted turntable. Don't ask me why I did that, but the top tier slid off and landed upside down onto the counter. Live and Learn.

This should have looked a lot better than it did. They were supposed to have flowers from the florist to arrange between each tier. However, they just have one pretty topper so I had to break it down and work with what I had.

This was supposed to be a fondant tuxedo cake, but the fondant wouldn't cooperate for me, so it became a cream cheese buttercream tuxedo cake at the last minute. This wasn't my best work because I had about an hour to redo the whole cake and try to repair the damage the fondant did to the cake. I ended up having to redo the cake three times. Luckily, I knew the groom didn't care what the cake looked like as long as it was chocolate and had a tux on it.'s my first groom's cake..

This is hexagon vanilla with raspberry mousse filling & jam & vanilla buttercream. It was outside & boy was I nervous! An outdoor wedding on July 1st? But today is just gorgeous, high humidity but only 75 degrees (in Ohio.) Fortunate bride! The lilies are real. I stuck the stems in straws before putting them on.

In a effort to put a wedding cake in my cake portfolio I created this and have absolutely no one to give it to! It's a 6", 9", & 12" double layer hexagon carrot cake with cream cheese filling covered in fondant from head to toe! This was my first time making fondant flowers and I thought they came out so cute. This was also my first attempt at making swags and they turned out ok. Note the dent on the middle left 2 year old wanted to help make the cake! Great...thanks for looking!

This cake was set up at ceremony time! It was 90*+ today here and we told the coordinator that we had concerns about this being outside, but she said no problem, ceremony then cake cutting photos by the Bride and Groom. Cake held up pretty great under the circumstances!

This was my wedding cake, made by Johnnies Sweet Creations Bakery of Oklahoma city Oklahoma. I'm only uploading it because I didn't see anything like it in the gallery when I was looking for wedding cakes, and thought it might help another bride. It was white cake with raspberry filling and buttercream frosting. It fit the romantic theme of my wedding perfectly.

My husband wanted a different shape for each level of THE wedding cake. I made this for him instead. The theatre theme was because he was a technical theatre major in college. The tools and ticket are made of fondant formed as though they were play-doh.

I was disappointed in this one. I was doing this entire reception, the food & centerpieces & music, etc. So the cake didn't get much of my time & it really shows. Fortunately no one cared & it was absolutly delicious. Key lime with apricot mango spread & white chocolate key lime mousse filling. Plus one of my other customers saw it & like it so much she bought it & I get to make it again & take my time with it. You never know.

Two tiers, double layer, hexagon shape. Top tier (which was served) was double dark chocolate inside with chocolate mousse filling. Bottom tier was yellow butter cake (flavors requested by the bride) with bavarian cream filling. Each cake had buttercream icing with ganache poured over each. It was decorated with fresh gerber daisies, baby's breath and fern. Below the silver plateau, I decorated it with gerber daises, spider mums, some berry sprigs, baby's breath and fern.

5 tiered hexagon shaped wedding cake, with sugar hydrangea blossoms in graduating green color. Took quite a while to get all those done and wired, but the silicone impression mat helped! Bottom tier was fake.
