Cake was present for friend turning 40 & her son 10. They had a combined party w/2 others 50&10. I had free reign, their in a book club, love coffee and the boys loved Harry Potter. The cakes: HP vanilla/ganache, other arelemon , lemonade flavored MMF, coffee mugs are RKT. 1st thing her son did when he saw the cake was to get his HB book to compare! Thanks to Melysa for the instructions & to Eren for posting them earlier this month. Thanks to CC'rs for inspiration on coffee mugs. Thanks for looking.

This was for a customer who needed a H.P. cake and knew nothing about H.P. She had a budget of $75 and I was able to do this for $80. She came, picked up the cake and tipped me $10 so it was $90 cake :D. This is a Butter cake 9x13 with BC and Satinice Fondant for book cover. Letters are Royal icing dusted with gold luster dust. Want is made of fondant. This was a 1st for me and I am VERY happy with the outcome!! :) Thanks for looking and as always, comments are Loved!! :)

This was the base for my son's birthday cake. It was a Harry Potter party so I made a book of "Quidditch through the ages". I know the original book was green, but I bought chocolate fondant so I took some artistic liberties. 9x13 cake covered in Satin Ice fondant and painted with NU Silver luster dust, with fondant accents and buttercream book title. The wax mark was made with fondant and I wrote "Property of Hogwarts library" using the Americolor black pen.

This was for my son's birthday. The golden snitch was made using the Wilton ball pan, covered in Ivory Satin Ice fondant, added fondant accents, and painted using Old Gold luster dust. The feathers are real, but I suppose you can make them with royal icing or gumpaste. The book cake details are in a separate photo.

I made this cake for my daughter's ninth birthday. Vanilla cake with vanilla butter cream (boring but it's what she wanted!) Decoration and figures are all fondant (except toothpick wands). Constructive critism welcome!

This is a book cake I made for my son's first birthday. We threw a Harry Potter party and I just thought a stack of spell books would be enchanting. This was my first fondant cake and I thought it turned out pretty well considering it only took me an hour and a half to make (excluding baking).

Each book is a seperate cake. All books are covered in Satin Ice, air brused, and the pics are not edible images, they are printed onto actual photo paper and placed on top of "book"the wand and glasses are fondant, the golden snitch is one of those Ferro Rochet (sp?) chocolates on heavy duty wire. I made the wings out of fondant and adhered them to the chocolate with yellow candy melts. The scrolls are images that I got from different websites on the computer and I printed and hand made. Not edible.

This is a cake that I did for my first competition. I was a little disappointed with the sorting hat but very happy with the rest of the elements.

I was asked to make a Harry Potter cake for a neighbor's son, and I have very little knowledge of the books or movies! So thank you to many cc members who helped me come up with the idea. A special thank you to mbelgard for seeing me through to the end! I also used mbelgard and minie's cakes as inspiration for mine. I hope it is pretty accurate to the movie and I hope that a bunch of 9 year old boys will get a kick out of it.

Harry Potter cake made with the Wilton pan. I'm not very good at faces, I think the nose looks awful and he has funny eyes. But I did my best and I had fun!

Books made from 11x15 cake and cut in half. Then covered in MMF and stacked. Hand painted design purposefully leaving on details of the book cover so it would not look so cluttered.

Made to resemble a Harry Potter book I found online in honor of my step-daughter's 13th birthday. It's yellow cake covered in buttercream and fondant. The spine of the book also has Harry Potter in gold writing. My first attempt at a book cake.

I have been making cakes after work for only a year and I am starting to feel a bit more confident. I made this recently for a boys 9th birthday and apparently he loved it.
